Copper Beeches is a small, friendly care home, currently accommodating up to 35 residents with a variety of needs - including residential, nursing, dementia and more specialised illnesses and challenges.

Under new ownership, (Belmont Healthcare), since April 2025, there are a number of exciting developments planned for the home, including the installation of new kitchenettes on both floors, encouraging both resident and family choice and independence, some internal refurbishment of rooms and public spaces and external work to develop the garden and outside spaces and facilities. A further long term increase in the number of rooms available is also being considered.

Job Summary


We are seeking a dedicated and suitably skilled Head of Maintenance to join our team. This role is essential for ensuring the smooth operation of our facilities and equipment. The ideal candidate will have experience of a maintenance role, perhaps in a care an d nursing home, or indeed a similar very person centred and people orientated environment. Trade and craft skills will also be welcome, reducing the number of external contractors we are required to call in... You will be responsible for maintaining and repairing equipment, overseeing projects, ensuring compliance with all manner of safety standards, and generally playing a significant role in maintaining Copper Beeches as safe, functional and happy environment and home!

Duties



Perform routine maintenance on machinery, equipment and home resources to ensure optimal performance and certificated compliance. Manage maintenance tasks with the support of the computerised 'Fault Fixers' system. Collaborate with contractors, suppliers, senior colleagues and maintenance team members from other local Belmont Healthcare homes, ensuring mutual support, expertise sharing, home coverage and best value and practice. Collaborate on project management initiatives to improve home operations and environment. Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, certifications and inventory management. Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies. Take the lead in fire safety compliance including unannounced drills, system checks, training and overall compliance Other duties as required to ensure that Copper Beeches is operating safely and to optimum standards for our residents, their loved ones, and our team.

Experience



Proven experience in this or a similar role would certainly be advantageous. Experience in troubleshooting and repair. Ability to demonstrate leadership capabilities, to work as part of a team and to also work on own initiative Proficiency in English for effective communication within the team and with other departments.
