Head Of Marketing (ecom Startup)

Manchester, ENG, GB, United Kingdom

Job Description

About Saks Group

Saks Group is a family-founded business with over 15 years of experience building and managing premium brands in the hair, beauty, and wellness industries. Through Saks Brand Management Ltd, we are the exclusive UK and European distributors for leading global brands such as HairMax and T3 Micro.

Now, we're building our own brand -- LEO -- a revolutionary hair loss prescription subscription brand designed to challenge the giants of the industry. We're creating a premium, medically credible, design-led solution that redefines confidence for men experiencing hair loss.

LEO is our priority and future. The brand has already received 150,000 of creative investment in visual identity, photography, packaging, and brand storytelling. We're now looking for a Head of Marketing to bring that brand to life -- to launch, grow, and scale it.

The Role

This is a startup Head of Marketing role -- meaning you'll wear many hats. You'll be joining a small, ambitious core team of three (Joe - CEO, Jonathan - COO, and you), working closely together to build something world-class from the ground up.

While this is a senior, strategic position, you'll also be hands-on -- running ads, writing campaigns, managing budgets, and collaborating with VAs and freelancers for execution. As we scale, you'll have the opportunity to build and lead your own internal team.

This role offers genuine influence, autonomy, and the chance to make a major impact in shaping one of the UK's most exciting new D2C health startups -- competing directly with industry leaders like Hims, Manual, and Sons.

Key Responsibilities

1. Strategic Leadership

Develop and execute a multi-channel marketing strategy for LEO's UK launch and growth. Build and manage a data-led marketing roadmap that drives awareness, acquisition, and retention. Work closely with the CEO and COO on strategic decision-making, budgets, and scaling plans. Oversee marketing for Saks Group's distributed brands (HairMax and T3 Micro) where required -- though LEO will be your main focus.

2. Performance Marketing

Run and optimise Meta Ads (Facebook, Instagram) campaigns to drive customer acquisition. Manage Google Ads (Search, Display, YouTube) to maximise ROI and reach.

Oversee tracking, attribution, and performance reporting across channels.

3. Retention & Lifecycle Marketing

Lead Email and SMS marketing, including flow setup, segmentation, and ongoing campaigns (with the support of our email VA). Build retention journeys that enhance LTV and reduce churn.

4. Content & Social

Use LEO's existing creative assets and brand identity to curate, brief, and direct new content. Oversee organic social, planning and scheduling content with VAs and creators. Develop and manage influencer, creator, and affiliate partnerships to drive reach and social proof.

5. Budgeting & Management

Work creatively within set budgets, leveraging VAs and freelancers to maximise output. Manage spend across channels, balancing paid and organic growth effectively.

6. Platforms & Tools

Operate confidently within Shopify and other CMS/e-commerce platforms. Use analytics, reporting, and marketing tools (GA4, Klaviyo, Meta Ads Manager, etc.) to inform decisions.

About You

You are highly organised, and have the ambition to take on a major challenge -- scaling a new D2C brand from launch to market leader. You're just as comfortable building high-level strategy as you are getting your hands dirty in Ads Manager.

You'll thrive in this role if you:

Are excited by the idea of being one of the first 3 people building a brand that can take on Hims, Manual, and Sons. Can balance strategy with execution -- capable of doing the work yourself where needed. Are resourceful, scrappy, and thrive in a small startup environment. o Have a strong grasp of paid social, paid search, email/SMS, influencer, and content marketing. Are comfortable managing budgets and optimising for ROI. Can work collaboratively and communicate clearly with remote VAs and freelancers.

Essential Skills & Experience

5+ years in marketing roles (ideally D2C or eCommerce). Proven experience scaling a consumer brand online. Hands-on experience with Meta Ads, Google Ads, Shopify, and Klaviyo (or equivalent). o Strong understanding of email flows, segmentation, and retention marketing. Strong creative eye and understanding of brand consistency (you don't have to design, but you must know what "great" looks like). Excellent written communication and campaign planning skills.

Bonus Skills

Experience in health, wellness, or subscription-based eCommerce. Experience managing influencer or affiliate campaigns. Experience outsourcing effectively to VAs or contractors.

The Environment

Our office is in Ancoats, Manchester -- a relaxed coworking-style setup where ideas flow easily. We're flexible on working from home a couple of days a week, but we expect you'll want to be in-office often -- collaborating, strategising, and helping drive momentum.

We move fast, make decisions quickly, and have big ambitions. If you're looking for a corporate role -- this isn't it. But if you're looking for influence, autonomy, and the thrill of building something real, this is the opportunity.

Why Join Us

Be one of the first team members in a fast-scaling, well-funded startup. Have a direct, visible impact on brand growth and success. Work with experienced founders with proven industry track records. Competitive salary with room for rapid progression and future leadership expansion.
