Purpose of the Role

To lead, own, and deliver the full marketing strategy for 1 Mill Street. This role is responsible for building awareness, driving member acquisition, supporting retention, and positioning 1 Mill Street as the region's leading hub for connection, collaboration, and community. The Marketing Manager balances hands-on delivery with strategic planning, ensuring that every campaign aligns to the organisation's commercial goals.

Key Responsibilities

Strategy & Leadership

Develop and own the annual marketing strategy, aligned with business objectives (membership growth, retention, F&B sales, events, and impact programmes).

Build and maintain a clear marketing calendar to ensure proactive, coordinated campaigns.

Provide leadership on brand direction, messaging, and positioning in the market.

Work closely with the senior team to ensure marketing strategy supports wider business planning.

Use market insights and competitor analysis to adapt strategy and stay ahead of trends.

Campaigns & Content

Plan and deliver integrated campaigns to drive tours, sign-ups, and community engagement.

Manage newsletters, blogs, social media, and video content, ensuring storytelling is consistent and on-message.

Promote member stories, success cases, and Make Good Grow impact projects.

Build partnerships with local press, stakeholders, and influencers to maximise visibility.

Digital & Data

Own the digital strategy across website, app, paid ads, and SEO.

Use data and analytics to inform decision-making, report on KPIs, and adjust campaigns.

Explore and implement AI tools and automation to increase speed, consistency, and output.

F&B & Events Marketing

Collaborate with the F&B Manager to shape marketing for the coffeehouse and bar identities.

Create campaigns that drive footfall, highlight seasonal offers, and support revenue targets.

Support the Events team in promoting internal programmes and external hire opportunities.

Community & Member Engagement

Design communication flows that strengthen the member journey (onboarding, retention touchpoints, re-engagement).

Lead initiatives that reinforce the core message: 1 Mill Street tackles isolation by creating genuine connection and collaboration.

Ensure members are positioned as brand advocates through thoughtful, story-led marketing.

Skills & Experience

Proven experience in a senior marketing role with strategic ownership.

Track record of building and executing successful marketing strategies that delivered measurable growth.

Strong digital marketing expertise (social media, SEO, PPC, email).

Confident in content creation and storytelling across different media.

Commercially minded, with experience using KPIs and ROI to shape strategy.

Excellent communicator, able to influence and collaborate across teams.

Creative and forward-thinking, with knowledge of emerging tools, particularly AI and automation.

What Success Looks Like

A clear and measurable marketing strategy in place, reviewed and adapted quarterly.

Membership leads and conversions meet or exceed targets.

Retention and engagement are improved through structured communications.

Coffeehouse and bar benefit from strategic marketing campaigns that deliver increased footfall and sales.

Events are consistently well-attended and externally booked.

The 1 Mill Street brand is recognised locally and regionally as the standout destination for connection and community.

Marketing output feels proactive, not reactive, with strategy always leading execution.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: 30,000.00 per year
