This role leads the development of an overall marketing strategy ensuring coordination across Corporate Services, Connectivity for Good, Industry Services and Solutions and Outreach. You will act as the strategic architect of our marketing organisation, ensuring clarity of direction, market positioning, and new initiatives as agreed with the CMO.
This role is part of our extended leadership team which is critical in shaping how the GSMA brand connects with its audiences, drives growth, and delivers measurable impact. You will be responsible for translating business objectives into innovative marketing strategies that strengthen our market position and growth.
About the Team
Marketing is the cohesive force across the GSMA that strategically positions the organisation's work and the industry's significance across select channels and owned platforms to engage diverse stakeholders, drive impact, influence thinking and attract audiences, sponsors and partners.
With an increasing number of platforms and reduced attention spans, our content must be sophisticated, personalised and highly curated. Our channel mix is evolving, by region, to attract the right audience to the right content, achieving cut-through on board and organisational priorities.
And in an increasingly fractured world, in which people are feeling more and more aggrieved, we safeguard the GSMA's reputation so it can continue to operate at global scale.
About the role
Strategic Planning & LeadershipDevelop and lead a cohesive marketing strategy aligned with our vision and goals, product roadmap, and customer insights Partner with the executive team to translate business priorities into go-to-market strategies

Market & Competitive IntelligenceIdentify emerging trends, insights, and market shifts that affect marketing effectiveness and positioning Provide strategic recommendations based on market opportunities, customer segments, and identified gaps Work closely with the Head of Marketing Operational Excellence to deliver the annual plan

Positioning & MessagingDefine brand positioning, messaging frameworks, and value propositions across all marketing activities Ensure consistent messaging and storytelling across all marketing channels and customer touchpoints.

Cross-Functional AlignmentCollaborate with wider GSMA teams to align marketing strategy with broader GSMA objectives Drive strategic alignment across regional and functional marketing teams Identify points of connection across GSMA activities and determine ways to leverage those into greater impact

Innovation & Growth InitiativesIdentify and lead strategic growth initiatives including audience development and lead generations Champion innovation across the marketing function, integrating new channels, capabilities, or operating models Drive brand evolution and strategic brand building in alignment with GSMA vision and values

Future of Marketing Tech & AI (embedding AI fluency into strategy and execution, from discovery to conversion)AI & automation - driving innovation across the entire lifecycle from content ops to CX Data maturity and decision intelligence - deliver robust, governed data layer across web, apps, and CRM AI-driven search to enable discoverability - leveraging the changing nature of SEO, and the impact of the change in mechanism away from index-based search to structured data/API-first web models and how AI and search agents (like ChatGPT or Perplexity) change how users find content Innovation ownership - identify, trial, and scale emerging tech for marketing impact (e.g. LLM integration, personalisation engines, voice search, smart content delivery)

Measurement & OptimisationDefine success metrics and monitor performance of strategic initiatives. Continuously refine strategies based on data, market feedback, and business performance.

About YouExperience leading in strategic marketing or business strategy roles Proven success in developing and executing strategic marketing plans that drive measurable business impact Strong understanding of brand development, customer segmentation, and digital marketing Deep understanding of integrated marketing, customer lifecycle strategies, and go-to-market planning Exceptional analytical, communication, and leadership skills Experience working in technology or telecommunication industry Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, data-driven, and evolving environment Experience scaling marketing strategies in a high-growth or global organisation Familiarity with marketing automation, CRM systems, and data analytics tools Thought leadership in marketing trends and innovation
