Telford College is looking for an experienced and motivated leader to take on the role of
Head of Maths & English
. In this key position, you will lead and manage both departments, driving high standards in teaching, learning, and student achievement.
You'll work closely with staff and senior leaders to improve outcomes, develop innovative approaches to curriculum delivery, and ensure Maths and English are embedded effectively across all programmes. Key Responsibilities To work with stakeholders in the continued development of the maths, English and ESOL to meet the needs of learners, apprentices, stakeholders and employers.
To work with curriculum areas to deliver any specific commercial curriculum offer that meets learner and stakeholder expectations and one that;
Delivers a responsive, value added, outstanding, efficient and focused experience through all aspects of learner journey
To contribute to the delivery of continuing professional development within your programme area.
To contribute to the development of the Self-assessment mechanisms and development plans of the department.
Be responsible for leading, creating and sustaining outstanding provision and ensuring high quality and innovative learning takes place for students through effective monitoring, evaluation and review of effective curriculum delivery models that maximise students' success as defined in strategic targets.
To oversee the delivery element of the subcontracted provision
Manage and support a staff team to deliver high quality teaching and learning, with an ethos of high expectations of student and apprentice achievement which results in high achievement rates and high grades.
To take ownership and responsibility for the performance of the area including student and apprentice maths and English outcomes, student experience and the quality of teaching and learning.

Senior level experience in FE and/or HE environments.
Extensive curriculum management experience leading vocational provision at a senior level in a FE college.
Proven experience of developing credible external relationships.
Track record of raising standards and improving the performance of learners.
Successful resource management, including managing staff and curriculum budgets effectively.
Demonstrated cusses in performance management, and quality improvement within a college environment.
Strong understanding of Ofsted, the Common Inspection Framework and effective curriculum planning process.
Detailed knowledge of education policy, funding regimes and government strategy affecting further education.
Proven commitment to Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people.
Excellent leadership management and communication skills, with the ability to delegate effectively.
An understanding of and commitment to diversity and equality of opportunity.
