Head Of Merchandise

Gateshead, ENG, GB, United Kingdom

Job Description

About Us

We're an ambitious health and wellness brand built around a thriving app-based community -- and we're entering a major new chapter. With a loyal and growing customer base, we're launching a full-scale lifestyle and merchandise line that spans gym apparel, performance wear, supplements and branded accessories.

Supported by a world-class in-house design team, with integrated on-site printing and fulfilment operations, and a fully optimized warehouse system, we're positioned to scale rapidly and deliver premium, purpose-led products at speed.

Now, we're looking for a visionary Head of Merchandising to bring this to life.

The Role

This is a leadership role with full ownership of our merchandising function -- from product vision and strategy through to development, delivery, and performance. You'll collaborate closely with our in-house teams to create apparel and branded ranges that reflect our identity and exceed our customers' expectations.

Key Responsibilities

Merchandising Strategy & Vision

Define and lead the merchandising strategy across all categories (apparel, gym wear, accessories, supplements, lifestyle products). Translate brand ethos and customer insight into a commercially successful product roadmap.

Product Development & Range Planning

Collaborate with our in-house design team to develop inspired and on-brand seasonal collections. Build and manage product range plans, including forecasting, pricing strategy, SKU optimization, and launch timelines.

Trend & Market Analysis

Stay ahead of industry trends, consumer behaviour, and competitive benchmarks to identify innovation opportunities. Use customer feedback and performance data to drive assortment decisions and continual improvement.

End-to-End Production Oversight

Work with our in-house printing and warehouse teams to streamline product development and fulfilment. Ensure quality, consistency, and efficiency across sourcing, production, and delivery processes.

Supplier & Vendor Management

Where external partners are used, lead vendor selection, negotiation, and relationship management. Drive quality control, compliance, and sustainable sourcing practices.

Sales & Performance Optimization

Partner with eCommerce and marketing teams to ensure successful product launches and seasonal campaigns. Monitor product sell-through and make data-driven decisions to optimize future lines.

Leadership & Team Building

Build and lead a high-performing merchandising team. Foster seamless collaboration across departments -- including Design, Marketing, Ops, and Customer Experience.

About You

5+ years in senior merchandising roles, ideally in health, wellness, activewear, or lifestyle brands. Proven ability to build and scale a merchandise range from the ground up. Deep understanding of apparel development, consumer behaviour, and category performance. Strong commercial acumen and ability to use data to guide decision-making. Highly collaborative, with a strong appreciation for design and branding. Experience with in-house production, DTC models, and/or vertical integration is a big plus. Passionate about health, wellness, and building a mission-driven brand.

Why This Role?

Join at a defining moment and shape a brand with global potential. Collaborate with best-in-class creative, ops, and tech teams. Take full ownership with room to innovate, lead, and scale. Competitive salary. Flexible working culture and a mission-led team that prioritizes wellbeing and impact.
