What will you be doing?
As Head of Metallurgy for BES Testing, you will lead a dynamic team at Rotech, driving innovation and excellence in materials testing. Reporting directly to the General Manager, you'll shape departmental strategy, ensure outstanding customer service, and deliver commercially successful solutions. This is a critical leadership role with the opportunity to make a significant impact on our business, develop your leadership skills, and contribute to the growth of our client base.
You will:

• Inspire, coach, and develop a team of technologists and technicians.
• Oversee all metallurgical testing activities, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and innovation.
• Design and quote test scopes for customer enquiries, working closely with clients to understand requirements and deliver tailored solutions.
• Plan and allocate resources to meet customer demand efficiently, balancing service delivery with cost control.
• Ensure all work meets UKAS and internal quality standards, and that documented test methods are up to date and fit for purpose.
• Maintain the physical condition and safety of the department and equipment, implementing improvements as needed.
• Collaborate with senior management, marketing, and sales to develop new services and expand our client base.
• Champion customer focus across the department, ensuring a consistently high standard of experience.
• Analyse management information to identify opportunities for new product development and service enhancements
• Ensure adherence to Health & Safety, GDPR/data protection, and employment legislation.
• Lead audit actions and implement corrective/preventive measures as required.

To join our team, you will need:

• Degree in Metallurgy, Materials Science, or a related discipline desirable.
• Proven experience leading a technical team in a laboratory or industrial setting.
• Strong track record in quoting, designing, and delivering complex test scopes.
• Excellent understanding of UKAS standards and quality management systems.
