Role Overview




We're seeking a visionary Head of Motor Design to lead the creation and growth of a new electric motor engineering team in the UK. This is a high-impact leadership role focused on developing cutting-edge propulsion systems across aerospace, automotive, and robotics applications. You'll drive the full product lifecycle while fostering a culture of technical excellence, collaboration, and innovation.

Key Responsibilities



Build, lead, and mentor a multidisciplinary motor design team Define product design strategy, KPIs, and technical roadmaps Oversee electromagnetic, thermal, and mechanical motor design Lead system integration, validation, and certification efforts Collaborate cross-functionally with simulation, manufacturing, and procurement teams Drive continuous improvement, cost optimization, and supplier engagement Ensure compliance with safety, regulatory, and environmental standards Own technical documentation, design reviews, and IP development

Requirements



MSc or PhD in Electrical or Electro-Mechanical Engineering Proven leadership in electric motor design across propulsion systems Expertise in Motor-CAD, Maxwell, Ansys Mechanical, Fluent, and 3D CAD Deep knowledge of electromagnetic, thermal, and structural analysis Experience with motor control algorithms, efficiency mapping, and simulation modeling Skilled in FMECA, FTA, DVP&R, DFMEA, PFMEA, and DOE methodologies Strong communication, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills
