Job Description

It has recently been announced that DN Media Group will consolidate the two IntraFish entities to build a stronger foundation for growth and profitability. Merging IntrafFsh will ensure its position as the world's leading salmon publication, though whitefish remains part of the offering for the global audience.


This consolidation will result in a single editorial organisation under unified management, which is being led by ?ystein Hage, as the acting Publisher for IntraFish. To support him and the process of the merger, we are seeking a Head of News to take responsibility for editing and planning the digital edition of Intrafish.com


Ideally seeking an internal candidate with experience of writing and editing in English.

Your day to day



The person will take the lead in ensuring that the digital edition of Intrafish.com is of the highest value as a standalone product while complementing the publication's online news. The Head of News will work closely with the publisher and have the authority to assign reporting and editing tasks to reporters. Lead the editing of the digital international edition, ensuring it has maximum impact and engagement. Lead the different weekly editorial meetings and ensure that we follow the new editorial strategy. Help set the editorial agenda and organise story flow from IntraFish's global network of staff correspondents. Work with the publisher and the Norwegian news editor to plan and deliver each edition on deadline. Lead forward planning of features, special reports, and other material important for the online edition. Work closely with the Publisher and the Norwegian new editor to ensure a successful merge of the two IntraFish organizations into one editorial team.



Your background:



A bachelor's or master's degree in communication, journalism, business or similar A proven track record of generating compelling journalism Robust knowledge of journalism law Able to build trust and influence with relevant stakeholders across the organisation and external. An excellent command of English, grammar and accuracy A keen eye for detail and excellent editing skills. Advanced digital skills and understanding how to use digital tools Integrity and high ethical standards Strong work ethic Ability to work fast and accurately under pressure.
