Summary



We are seeking a Head of Operations to lead and manage the end-to-end operations of the warehouse, ensuring the delivery of exceptional performance against key operational, safety, and people metrics.

The Head of Operations (Dayshift) will drive continuous improvement, maintain a safe and compliant working environment, and foster a high-performance culture through effective leadership, communication, and development of the warehouse team.

Responsibilities



Leadership & Performance Management



To lead, motivate and manage the performance of the various teams to surpass the site KPI's using the management information, processes & policies to drive results Provide clear direction and leadership across the farming and fulfilment operations, ensuring consistent performance and alignment with company goals. Ensure that there is Cross-Functional Collaboration across the business functions as well as with other business partners

Operational Oversight



Maintain full autonomy and oversight of all operations across procurement, logistics, growing, packing, and distribution. Act as a primary point of contact for high-severity issues, ensuring swift resolution to maintain service continuity. Ensure efficient handling of produce to maintain quality and freshness standards. Lead and implement best practices across all functions of the business Manage supply chain from supply, farm to customer Monitor supply chain performance and resolve bottlenecks to ensure efficiency throughout supply chain. (Logs, procurement, suppliers)

Planning & Forecasting



Hold S&OP (Sales and operation planning) meetings to work with commercial team on demand planning, product availability/lead time, warehouse space. Adjust operational processes to reflect commercial needs

KPI & Cost Management



Understand, communicate, and drive departmental KPIs, ensuring correct processes are followed to enable accurate data for weekly, monthly KPI reports to Seniors/Board members Take proactive action on any overspends or performance shortfalls.

People Management



Lead the consistent application of the Company People Management Process:

Deliver regular team briefings. Encourage continuous improvement through team contributions. Set and review quarterly objectives. Ensure the completion of Return to Work interviews, probation reviews, annual appraisals, and disciplinary processes. Support recruitment and selection of new employees and manage agency staff. Oversee training and development, including regular 1:1s and performance reviews. Lead and mentor staff across multiple functions and locations. Manage team absence effectively, including conducting return to work and absence review meetings. Liaise with HR and Payroll to ensure timely resolution of wage and personnel issues. Ensure all wage deadlines are met and that any HR matters are addressed promptly and effectively.

Health & Safety



Ensure a safe working environment, including timely accident investigations and implementation of corrective actions. Ensure compliance with all Health & Safety standards and legal requirements (e.g., COSHH, HACCP, MHE). Enforce the use of correct PPE and adherence to safety protocols at all times.

Compliance Management



Monitor and report instances of non-compliance with third-party partners. Manage Non-conformance reporting across the team and implement corrective measures when necessary Ensure adherence to food safety regulation and accreditations such as HACCP, Soil association, red tractor and BRCGS as well as internal quality standards.

Process Improvement & Operational Excellence



Manage and optimize the company's ERP system to enhance planning, inventory management, traceability, and reporting. Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and service quality. Engage teams in continuous improvement initiatives and maintain a "tour ready" farm at all times. Continuously review and improve reporting and systems to maximize team competence.

Requirements



Proven experience in a leadership role within operations or logistics management. Strong management skills with the ability to motivate and guide teams effectively. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Demonstrated ability to analyze data and make informed decisions based on performance metrics. Ability to identify and reduce process steps to improve productivity and/or accuracy. Ability to influence and motivate.

Pay: 38,000.00 per year
