Lead end?to?end operations across all manufacturing, supply chain, quality, HSE, logistics, and customer fulfilment to deliver reliable, compliant, and cost?effective production of luminaires and control systems. Drive operational excellence, quality, resource and sustainability aligned to UK market standards and the company's growth strategy.
Key Responsibilities
1) Operational Leadership & Strategy
Own the Operations strategy aligned to business requirements: capacity, capability, automation, footprint, resources and resilience.
Build a high?performing management team; define roles, succession planning, and skills development for managers, supervisors and key specialists.
Help implement a culture of process improvement with your management team
2) Production & Manufacturing
Work closely with the Production Manager to plan and steer daily and weekly production activities, ensuring OTIF performance and cost targets are consistently achieved.
Introduce automation and/or automation updates.
Ensure equipment reliability through TPM (Autonomous Maintenance, Planned Maintenance, Condition Monitoring).
Build configuration?to?order capability (short?lead customisations) without compromising schedule.
3) Supply Chain & Procurement
Own S&OP and MPS; ensure robust demand/supply reconciliation and capacity planning.
Optimise inventory of raw materials using analysis and safety stock policies.
Develop supplier performance management (KPI's, cost, sustainability), dual?sourcing for key components, and long?term agreements.
Lead risk mitigation for global electronics supply including lead times & obsolescence.
4) Quality & Compliance
Ensure Quality Targets are achieved
Maintain and continually improve ISO 9001 QMS
5) Health, Safety & Environment (HSE)
Maintain ISO 14001 EMS; drive waste minimisation, energy reduction, and circularity (e.g., design for disassembly, TM65/TM66 where relevant).
Maintain ISO 45001 OHS: Ensure safe systems of work, risk assessments, and training.
6) Warehousing & Logistics
Manage all aspects of warehouse operations, including goods receipt, storage, and inventory control.
Oversee order picking and packing to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
Plan and coordinate logistics for timely movement of materials and finished goods.
Supervise despatch activities to guarantee on-time and accurate deliveries to customers.
Monitor carrier performance for cost-effectiveness.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and reduce costs.
7) Digital & Data
Maximise ERP/MRP utilisation (boms/routings accuracy, backflushing, WIP, & data visibility).
Introduce new technologies and develop systems to improve efficiencies.
Candidate Profile
Essential Experience
A strong commercial acumen.
ERP/MRP systems.
Strong ability to negotiate pricing, terms, and contracts with suppliers.
Proven experience in sourcing and purchasing components for manufacturing environments.
Demonstrated success in improving supply chain efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
