We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic individual to join us in this new post which will be responsible for creating and leading the SC1 London partnership and delivery team working directly to and advising the SC1 Board members in leading the work of SC1 London. The postholder will be responsible for strategic and operational management of SC1 London. The position is part of a dynamic team delivering an effective service supporting the Senior Vice President Health and Life Sciences, King's College London and Executive Director, King's Health Partners and Co-Chair of the SC1 London Board and the Board and Senior Leadership from across SC1 London to provide high quality policy and strategic advice, information and administrative support .
The postholder will arrange, attend and contribute to Board meetings, as Secretary to the Board.
This is fast paced and demanding role and the post holder will be required to deliver within demanding time frames operational, business and strategic advice to support the Senior Vice President Health and Life Sciences, King's College London and Executive Director, King's Health Partners and the strategic programme supporting SC1 London .
The post holder will need to be able to synthesise information from a wide range of internal and external sources, using it to provide high quality advice and support to the Senior Vice President Health and Life Sciences, King's College London and Executive Director, King's Health Partners and their team s across the breadth of SC1 London . They will also provide strategic support to a number of innovation and partnership work streams, ensur ing they deliver as required by providing input to policy and decision making at Board level.
The role is responsible for overseeing and providing direct, personal support to the Senior Vice President Health and Life Sciences, King's College London and Executive Director, King's Health Partners to ensure the work of the partnership office, as well as the work across the wider system, is coordinated and actioned in a timely manner .
The post holder will also take accountability for delegated responsibilities for the Senior Vice President Health and Life Sciences, King's College London and Executive Director, King's Health Partners on behalf of SC1 London . This will include playing a leading role on delegated projects, external facing events, stakeholder engagement, and strategic partnership programmes across SC1 London , along with providing full oversight of the project administrative support team within the SC1 London office.

SC1 London is a partnership; Lambeth and Southwark Councils , Guys & St Thomas Foundation, and Kings Health Partners (which is formed of King's College London and Guy's and St Thomas', King's College Hospital, and South London and Maudsley NHS foundation trusts); a unique ecosystem of partners, spaces and talent dedicated to world-leading innovation in health and life sciences in the heart of the UK's capital.
The core remit is to advocate for the ecosystem and its 3 innovation clusters (Waterloo, London Bridge, and Denmark Hill), promoting our strengths across Innovation, Enterprise, Talent, Place and Networks. Additionally, SC1 London identifies and advances projects to improve the health and life sciences sector, where there is added value in SC1 London partners working collaboratively .
Significant investment plans are already underway, including development sites with the potential to deliver over two million square feet of commercial and community space, business incubation facilities, and new affordable housing. We have also begun piloting new approaches to connecting diverse talent with the growing economic opportunities which exist in the health and life sciences.
This is a new team, based at Guy's Hospital, but may be required to visit others sites for SC1 London as part of their role.
Working arrangements are hybrid.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the strategic and op erational management of the SC1 London office and Senior Vice President Health and Life Sciences, King's College London and Executive Director, King's Health Partners O ffice in relation to SC1 matters .
Responsible for d eliver ing an effective service by providing high quality policy advice, information and administrative support .
Responsible for compiling and writing business plans and developing strategy and strategic reports, as well as s ynthesising information from a wide range of internal and external sources, using it to provide high quality advice and support to SC1 London and to contribute to corporate , commercial policies and strategy.
Strategically support a number of portfolios of work on behalf of SC1 London , ensuring they are de liver ed as required and that performance targets are met against strategy and delivery plans , and to provide input in to policy and decision making for the SC1 Board .
Provide direct and personal support for the Senior Vice President Health and Life Sciences, King's College London and Executive Director, King's Health Partners (SVP/ED) ; problem solving and troubleshooting according to need to ensure the y can be effective in the full range of roles and duties for SC1 London .
Exercising delegated authority on behalf of the SVP/ED to faci litate resolution of management and operational issues within SC1 London and wider , providing support to the wider SC1 London senior leadership team /Board members.
Work collaboratively and maintain relationships with key stakeholders in other stakeholder organisations , to strengthen, both current and evolving partnerships to ensure effective cross-organisational working, including m anagement of critical internal and external communications.
Prepare briefings , presentations, speaking notes and various reports ensuring key leads are effectively briefed and appropriately sighted on key areas.
Represent the SVP/ED at relevant SC1 London and external and national meetings and events .
Remain up to date on national and local developments and best practice , especially in the key policy areas of innovation and improvement .
Oversee the SC1 budget on behalf of the SVP/ED and in conjunction with the relevant finance leads from SC1 London member organisations (primary connection with GST finance for hosted budgets for SC1 London).
Responsible for the development, implementation and delivery of designated programmes and projects across the SC1 agenda and wider portfolio of the SVP/ED for the work of SC1 London .
