Since launching our first product, Present Pal, back in 2018, Estendio has empowered students across over 150 universities in the UK and US to excel in their presentations and communication skills. Building on this success, we recently launched our second product, Tailo, an AI-powered reading platform designed to create a tailored reading experience for every mind.


Our mission is to become the world's leading accessibility company, and we're entering an exciting stage of rapid growth as we scale over the next year.


We're looking for a dynamic and hands-on Head of People to join our senior leadership team. This role is pivotal in building and executing people strategies that help our team thrive as we scale. You'll be a strategic advisor, a trusted coach, and a champion of our people and culture.


You'll be building on the strong foundations we have, ensuring that our People practices are fit for a fast-scaling business. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in start-up environments, is adept at balancing strategy and execution, and can deliver results in a short timeframe.

About the Role




As Head of People, you will be responsible for supporting a wide range of HR functions, from strategic initiatives all the way through to administrative tasks including;

Talent Management



Working alongside our Talent Specialist to assist in recruiting efforts where required, including drafting job descriptions, screening candidates and co-ordinating interviews Implementing and further developing onboarding processes to ensure new hires integrate seamlessly into the team Overseeing performance management initiatives, including our Career Conversations framework, and feedback processes Overseeing employee engagement initiatives and monitoring our feedback tools Overseeing our pay review process, including benchmarking and reward strategy

Strategic HR Initiatives



Partnering with leadership to design a scalable organisational structure to support growth Developing and implementing HR policies and procedures that align with our company culture and values and are fit for growth Oversee our current employee engagement strategies, and develop new ideas to foster a positive and productive work environment Advise on training and development opportunities, including career pathways for employees Providing training and coaching to our staff group on areas such as leadership development

HR Process Management and Administration



Managing our HRIS (CharlieHR) Overseeing core HR processes, in particular our on-boarding and off-boarding processes so that our people experience is first class and managing employee records, contracts etc Maintaining compliance with UK employment law, GDPR, and industry best practices. Managing benefits and payroll inputs and liaising with external providers as needed. Supporting day-to-day queries from employees, providing advice on policies and procedures.

Employee Relations and Culture



Act as a trusted advisor for leadership and employees on HR-related issues Proactively manage and resolve employee relation matters in a fair and consistent manner Promote diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives within the organisation Drive initiatives that strengthen our company culture

About You




We're looking for a skilled and adaptable HR professional who thrives in a fast-paced, start-up environment:

Essential



Proven experience as an HR professional at a similar level, ideally in a tech start-up or 'starting to scale' business environment and understand the unique challenges and opportunities that come with it Strong knowledge of UK employment law, HR best practices, and compliance requirements CIPD Qualified (ideally to Level 7) A builder and operator - shaping the HR function and making things happen. - Comfortable handling both operational and strategic HR responsibilities Experience supporting and engaging a remote- first team Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships across the organisation Proven ability to work independently and provide pragmatic, solutions-focused advice Excellent organisational skills with an eye for detail and the ability to prioritise effectively You're empathetic but commercial - combining people-first thinking with strong business acumen

Desirable
