Job Purpose

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Head of Pre-Sales & Design to join our team. In this leadership role, you will be responsible for overseeing the pre-sales and design teams that support the commercial sale of EVC and Solar. You will work closely with our sales and project management teams to provide technical expertise, develop innovative solutions, and drive successful customer engagements. Your primary focus will be to deliver the following outcomes:

  • The delivery of exceptional pre-sales support leading to the closure of high value contracts with commercial customers
  • The professional development of your team, ensuring a best in class pre-sale & design function
  • The continuous improvement of process, using technology & standardised design principles to accelerate quoting speed & support in pipeline growth
Pre-Sales Leadership:
  • Develop and execute the pre-sales strategy, aligning it with the overall business objectives.
  • Lead and mentor a team of pre-sales professionals, providing guidance and support.
  • Collaborate with the sales team to understand client requirements and develop compelling proposals.
  • Participate in client meetings and presentations, demonstrating technical expertise and product knowledge.
  • Conduct product demonstrations, highlighting key features and benefits to potential customers.
Solution Design:
  • Lead the design and engineering efforts to create customized EVC and Solar Solutions for customers.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to assess customer needs and propose appropriate technical solutions.
  • Design and develop detailed system layouts, schematics, and specifications.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards, regulations, and best practices.
  • Optimize system performance and maximize energy efficiency through thoughtful design.
Technical Sales Support:
  • Provide technical guidance and support to the sales team throughout the sales cycle.
  • Conduct virtual & in-person site surveys to gather information for solution design and proposal development.
  • Assist in preparing accurate and comprehensive project quotations and cost estimates.
  • Collaborate with the project management team to ensure seamless transition from sales to implementation.
  • Address technical inquiries and resolve any issues that arise during the pre-sales process.
Process Improvement:
  • Define standardised design & costing methodology across the company product set
  • Develop simplified costing tools & processes that allow swift budgetary estimates & customer quoting
  • Leverage technology to minimise pre-contract customer site visits when preparing customer proposals
  • Support the formation of a standardised set of customer facing materials to support the tender/proposal process
  • Act as a trusted consultant to the product team, in identifying new products & partners that Egg could leverage to grow market share & revenues
Knowledge & Experience
  • Proven experience in pre-sales, solution design, or technical sales roles in the EVC or Solar industry.
  • Strong knowledge of electric vehicle charging infrastructure, solar energy systems, and related technologies.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and manage a team, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Process improvement or business transformation experience
  • Financial acumen, understanding of costing, pricing & margin principles
  • Familiarity with relevant industry standards, regulations, and best practices
  • Ability to analyse client requirements, identify technical constraints, and propose innovative solutions.
  • Bachelor\'s degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, or Electrical qualifications such as; 18th Edition, 2391/2394/2395/2396 City & Guilds
  • Experience in Civils design & deployment preferable
  • Valid driving license and willingness to travel to client sites as required.
