Your Role and What You'll Be Doing




This role within the Commercial Finance Team focuses on enhancing pricing practices at Irwin Mitchell to better reflect client needs and service quality. It involves cross-functional collaboration to embed best practices and governed pricing processes.



Key responsibilities include developing and implementing pricing policies, performance reporting, identifying opportunities, and creating tools to drive value through pricing. Additionally, the role provides Finance Business Partnering support for a new personal injury legal team in Scotland, covering financial reporting, forecasting, and the annual budget cycle, with minimal travel required.


What You'll Be Doing




Develop and deliver plans to support the Strategic Business Plan and strengthen pricing discipline across Irwin Mitchell. Lead the periodic pricing evaluation and price increase process, including stakeholder consultation, proposal submission, rollout, and performance monitoring. Chair the Pricing Committee to oversee pricing framework development, policy implementation, and governance of exceptions. Manage and maintain firm rate cards to ensure consistency, efficiency, and market relevance. Govern pricing exceptions to streamline processes and promote alignment. Conduct ongoing analysis to evaluate pricing effectiveness and identify improvement opportunities. Collaborate with the Commercial Data Insights Team and Strategic Pricing Steering Group to benchmark pricing, monitor market trends, and drive innovation. Contribute to strategic pricing policies for initiatives such as discounting, value adds, panels, bids, and tenders. Support Client Service and Business Development teams in pricing complex proposals. Partner with data teams to design dashboards and tools for profitability management. Assist the Propositions team with pricing models for new projects. Evaluate and implement pricing tools and technologies to enhance transparency and ease of use. Support the Growth Academy in developing training programmes to build pricing capability. Partner with the PI Scotland team to shape and deliver strategic objectives. Provide financial insights to support decision-making, investment appraisal, and resource allocation. Monitor financial performance, produce variance analysis, and deliver insightful reporting. Lead planning, budgeting, and forecasting processes. Deliver robust financial analysis to evaluate business cases and ensure value creation. Build strong relationships with operational and commercial teams, acting as a trusted adviser.

About You



Essential Skills & Experience




Strong analytical mindset with advanced numerical and data interpretation skills. Proven expertise in financial modelling, pricing strategy, and cost analysis. In-depth understanding of billing and costing methodologies within professional services or comparable sectors. Demonstrated experience in developing business cases in complex financial environments. Familiarity with pricing optimisation techniques and customer lifetime value (LTV) analysis. Degree-level education or equivalent qualification. Exceptional stakeholder engagement and influencing skills across all organisational levels. Clear and confident communicator, capable of articulating complex concepts both verbally and in writing. Effective leadership in managing meetings, forums, and cross-functional initiatives. Experience in people management, mentoring, and fostering knowledge sharing. Resilient and determined, with the ability to navigate complex stakeholder dynamics and drive meaningful business change.

Desirable Skills & Experience




Awareness of regulatory frameworks and their impact on pricing strategies. Proficiency in financial modelling tools and software. Working knowledge of Power BI, PowerApps, and other data visualisation or automation platforms. Experience managing pricing within the legal sector.
