About the Role
With the rapid growth of direct shopping of textiles, the control of own brand garments needs to be consistent and detailed. Whilst technical knowledge and practical experience are required, the successful candidate must have a passion for clothing and a creative flare. There is a predominance of ladies tailoring and knitwear with specific knowledge in one of these fields being essential.
Key Responsibilities:
Following complete development of product from initial concepts to final sample
Maintaining relationships with existing suppliers and sourcing new suppliers for future products
Manage the QC of all bulk deliveries, analysing the found information, relating to manufacturer to resolve any issues in a speedy time frame
Review and improve existing products to meet customers' needs more effectively including reviewing returns rates from Mail Order Department to pin point fit or quality issues
Source new fully factored and CMT manufacturers in UK, Europe and Worldwide
Analyse cost and impact on final retail price ensuring targets are met including margins and lead times
Market and product research
Visit manufacturers in the UK and overseas
Supplier negotiations.
Manage Product Development Assistant, developing their knowledge and skills, promoting effective team work. Motivating and inspiring them to deliver departmental and individual goals
Key Skills:
Strong working technical knowledge of garment construction and manufacturing across multiple product areas
Understanding of fabric properties & test reports
Ability to multitask
Experience of working with offshore factories in the EU and Asia.
Excellent organisational and communication skills.
Computer literacy (Excel/Word/Outlook)
