Due to continued growth and expansion, we're recruiting for a Head of Quality & Continuous Improvement to join our amazing CTO team so, if you're from a strong engineering background with a proven track record in leading quality and improvement programmes across the hardware/software arenas, we'd love to hear from you!
This role requires you to be on-site in Capenhurst near Chester (CH1 6ES) 2-3 days per week flexing as projects require. Please apply ONLY if you live within a reasonable commuting distance
About the role:
Lead the development and rollout of a continuous improvement framework across all EA Technology business lines
Apply a systems approach to identify and close gaps across processes, technology and people
Prioritise improvement activity starting with highest-risk areas, then broaden across the organisation
Implement early warning systems to identify and prevent potential failures or defects
Partner with product managers and engineering leads to manage technical debt and product lifecycle risks
Support compliance initiatives (e.g. ISO 9001, IEC) ensuring improvements dovetail with certification requirements
Oversee customer-reported incidents and embed structured root cause analysis and lessons learned
Champion a collaborative, blameless culture where quality is embraced as an enabler of success, not a barrier
Track and report key quality and improvement metrics to the CTO and executive team
Explore and introduce AI and data-driven approaches to enhance quality and efficiency
What we'll need from you:
Strong engineering skills across hardware and software environments (Hardware preferred)
Proven ability to lead continuous improvement, risk management and process development
Demonstrate systems thinking by holistically understanding people, processes and technology and integrating them seamlessly
Strong facilitation and collaboration skills, fostering influence through cooperation rather than empire-building
Competence in root cause analysis, risk management and technical debt oversight
Ability to design and deliver early warning and monitoring systems
Working knowledge of ISO frameworks (ISO 9001, IEC)
Understanding of regulated environments and compliance practices
Awareness of AI and data-led QA tools and their application in process improvement
Knowledge of best practice in safety-critical industries (utilities, aerospace, energy, medical)
Strong engineering background (degree preferred but not essential)
Formal CL training (Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen, etc.) would be desirable
Proven track record in leading quality and improvement programmes across hardware/software contexts
