Band 8C / 37.5 hours



We are a Corporate Team with responsibility and accountability for Safeguarding and Public Protection on behalf of BCUHB.



We work closely with internal and external partners on a Regional and National footprint, this includes six Local Authorities, three large District General Hospitals and Mental Health Units, North Wales Police, Probation Services, Public Health Wales, and Welsh Government.



We are a driven and highly motivated Team who are flexible in our approach and who recognise the importance of face-to-face engagement and participation.



About You:



Current registration with a relevant professional body (e.g., NMC, Social Care Wales).



Postgraduate qualification in safeguarding children or a related field.



Extensive experience in safeguarding and VAWDASV across diverse settings.



High-level literacy and advanced report writing skills.



Strong time management, governance, and quality monitoring experience.



Able to work under pressure, manage competing priorities, and lead autonomously.



Ability to travel locally, regionally and nationally.



We are seeking a highly experienced and dedicated Head of Safeguarding Children to lead our safeguarding agenda across the organisation.



This is a critical, face-to-face leadership role requiring expert knowledge, strategic oversight, and operational excellence in safeguarding children and young people.



The role also includes leadership responsibilities in addressing Violence Against Women, Domestic Abuse, and Sexual Violence (VAWDASV), ensuring a co-ordinated and trauma-informed approach across services.



The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Main Duties of the Job:



Provide expert leadership on all aspects of safeguarding children and young people.



Lead on the organisation's response to VAWDASV, ensuring alignment with national strategies and local priorities.



Ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory safeguarding frameworks.



Develop and implement Safeguarding and VAWDASV policies, procedures, and training.



Lead on quality assurance, governance, and service improvement.



Manage safeguarding budgets and resources effectively.



Produce high-quality reports and documentation for internal and external stakeholders.



Work collaboratively with multi-agency partners and internal teams.



Provide clinical supervision for Specialist Nurses, Social Workers, Midwives and other Allied Health Professionals both within the Safeguarding and Public Protection Team and across BCUHB services.
