This full-time position (Monday to Thursday - we don't work Fridays), reporting to the COO, will lead digiLab's commercial activity. As Head of Sales, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and driving digiLab's revenue growth, developing and closing high-value opportunities, and forming strategic relationships with flagship clients. This is a key leadership position as we scale our impact across deep tech and industrial sectors.

Understanding the technology and products we offer is critical - you should be able to grasp complex technical concepts and communicate them effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
We are looking for someone who is tactically astute, strategically minded, and comfortable leading both sales execution and long-term business planning.
What you will be doing with us:
As the Head of Sales at digiLab, you will be responsible for:

  • Sales and Revenue Growth
  • Achieve mutually agreed sales and revenue targets aligned with digiLab's business objectives
  • Drive commercial opportunities from lead generation through to deal close
  • Maximise both client value and digiLab revenue
  • Sales Process Ownership
  • Build and maintain a consistent, high-quality pipeline of short- and medium-term opportunities
  • Manage the pipeline via our CRM system; track progress and take timely action to accelerate deals
  • Develop accurate sales forecasts and provide regular updates and insights to senior management
  • Establish and improve scalable sales processes, supported by data and analytics
  • Client Relationship Management
  • Build and maintain strong, strategic relationships with senior stakeholders at target and existing clients
  • Work closely with the CEO, COO, Head of Business Development, and Technical Sales to coordinate outreach and client engagements
  • Deliver long-term account management to flagship clients; grow internal stakeholder communities and identify new opportunities
  • Commercial Strategy and Leadership
  • Lead prioritisation of internal resources to deliver on commercial goals
  • Recruit, train and manage members of the commercial team
  • Collaborate with internal teams - particularly Technical Sales, Business Development and Marketing - to align with overall commercial objectives
  • Relay client requirements and pain points to product and R&D teams to help shape offerings
  • Sector Presence and Thought Leadership
  • Represent digiLab at business events and conferences
  • Develop external visibility by contributing to presentations, articles, media and PR
  • Contribute to strategic planning, including business plans and resourcing, alongside the senior leadership team
What Skills we are looking for:
  • Experience in selling technical software solutions to large industrial enterprises, including software licences, services and collaborative projects
  • A strong understanding of software buying processes in complex or engineering-led organisations
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage a range of stakeholders from technical users to executives
  • A technical education in engineering, science or mathematics
  • A strong motivation to form strategic relationships and close high-value commercial deals
  • A goal-oriented mindset, while remaining adaptable and flexible in approach
  • A desire to contribute to the growth and ambitions of a deep tech start-up, and to help scale a small, high-impact team
In addition, some 'nice to haves' are:
  • Computationally competent, with experience performing data analysis (Python experience and modelling capabilities, though not essential, would be an asset)
  • A Master's in a STEM degree.
Location:
This role is based on-site at digiLab's offices on the Quay, Exeter.
