Central Saint Michael's Sixth Form is seeking a dynamic and experienced Head of Section for Teacher Education to lead and manage our Teacher Education department. This is a full-time, fixed-term position offered on a rolling contract, which will include evening and online teaching as part of the role.



As Head of Section, you will be responsible for driving excellence across the department, leading a team of teaching staff, ensuring outstanding student outcomes, and promoting innovation in curriculum delivery. You will oversee the day-to-day running of the department while supporting the wider strategic goals of the College.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and manage a team of teaching staff, supporting professional development and performance. Drive improvements in teaching, learning, and assessment to ensure excellent student outcomes. Develop and deliver innovative curriculum pathways aligned with employer and learner needs. Oversee quality processes, including Self-Assessment Reports and Quality Improvement Action Plans. Support students' progression into employment, further study, or higher education. Represent the department at internal and external meetings, open days, and marketing events. Ensure compliance with college policies, safeguarding requirements, and awarding body standards.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

A proven leader in education or industry with significant experience in Automotive or related disciplines. A track record of driving improvements in student outcomes and programme quality. Strong understanding of automotive curriculum and apprenticeship standards. Excellent interpersonal skills to build relationships with students, staff, and external stakeholders. A commitment to fostering an inclusive and empowering learning environment.
