Head Of Security Operations

Job Description

Let us tell you a bit about the opportunity
This is a unique opportunity to join Aldermore as Head of Security Operations in a high-impact leadership role and drive the cyber defence strategy that protects our customers, colleagues, and critical systems. You'll own the Group's cyber defence, driving threat monitoring, detection, prevention, and incident response. You'll work hands-on when needed, guiding your team through complex incidents and shaping our security strategy to stay ahead of evolving threats.
This is your chance to make a real impact: you'll reduce the attack surface, manage Identity and Access, and ensure seamless collaboration between SecOps, internal stakeholders, and our Managed Service Provider. Reporting to the CISO, you'll translate strategy into action, creating a secure yet agile environment that enables the business to deliver fast, safe, and seamless services to our customers. If you're a technical, strategic leader passionate about cyber defence, this role is your opportunity to shape Aldermore's security future.
What will your day look like?

  • Lead and Evolve Security Operations: Oversee SOC, Threat Intelligence, Incident Response, Vulnerability Management, Attack Surface Management, and IAM functions to protect critical assets.
  • Drive Continuous Improvement: Champion efficiency, automation, and innovation to enhance security operations, reduce manual effort, and improve responsiveness.
  • Optimise Security Controls: Ensure effective operation of monitoring, patching, and threat detection mechanisms across cloud and on-prem environments.
  • Strengthen Threat and Incident Response: Lead proactive threat hunting, intelligence sharing, and coordinated response to security incidents with MXDR partners.
  • Measure and Report Performance: Define and track KPIs, metrics, and risk indicators to provide visibility of the Bank's threat landscape and security posture.
  • Align Strategy and Stakeholders: Translate CISO/CTO strategies into actionable programs while fostering strong relationships with internal and external partners.
What do we expect from you?
  • Significant proven experience in cybersecurity including leadership roles within Security Operations or similar
  • Strong understanding of cloud security (AWS, Azure, GCP) and modern enterprise IT environments
  • Experience with SIEM, SOAR, EDR, NDR, and threat intelligence platforms
  • Demonstrated ability to manage large-scale security incidents and crisis situations.
  • Strong background in SOC management, incident response, threat intelligence, and vulnerability management
  • Familiarity with security frameworks (NIST, ISO 27001, MITRE ATT&CK, CIS Controls)
  • Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CISM, GIAC (GCIA, GCIH, GCFA), or equivalent highly desirable
  • Demonstrated ability to manage large-scale security incidents and crisis situations.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
What can you expect from us?
  • A hybrid working policy, 3 days per week onsite in one of our offices
  • A friendly and flexible culture, the same as how we work with our customers.
  • A growing organisation that means there's lots of opportunities to progress
  • A drive for continuous improvement, which you will be empowered to get behind from day one.
  • And of course, you will be rewarded competitively, with a good range of core benefits and bonus potential.
