THE POST - Head of Student Experience & Engagement

The Head of Student Experience and Engagement will be responsible for the continued implementation and leadership of the ground-breaking Student Success Hub and Student Success Team, which provides early intervention and transitional support for our students and consistency in the provision of cross-institutional student experience. Both teams provide students with a seamless network of support across the institution which will improve overall satisfaction, student experience and retention rates as well as having a positive impact on institutional reputation.

As a senior member of staff within the University, and a member of the Directorate of Student Success Leadership Team, the post holder will lead transformational change in student experience and engagement and support at UWS, acting as a catalyst for structural change in the consolidation of existing student support functions currently dispersed throughout the institution. The postholder will progress work already started on building a new network of support for students comprising academic, peer and specialist functions.

The Head of Student Experience and Engagement will use their considerable leadership, influencing and negotiation skills to deliver a key strategic objective, designing and delivering process and organisational change around student experience and engagement across multiple directorates and Schools.

The successful candidate should have the following:

  • A university degree is essential or extensive relevant business experience.
  • Experience of leading and managing directly or indirectly large teams of people.
  • Experienced practitioner with significant background in student support or similar areas(s) of educational service and/or administration.
  • Extensive data analysis and presentation skills, demonstrating the ability to harvest and communicate trends, as well as react and pivot the teams focus appropriately.
  • Excellent Communication skills to all levels of stakeholders.
  • In depth working knowledge and understanding of the strategic priorities and the added value that student success must provide to the University.
