The Systems Engineering function in Ultra provides systems engineering knowledge and expertise to all projects/programmes through the bid and development lifecycles.

The role is accountable to the VP Engineering.

Responsible to ensure that both project and statutory requirements are met and works to improve the effectiveness of the systems design function within the company.

Responsible for the system architecture and integration of the solution and taking a risk-based approach for off-contract status.

Continuously develop systems engineering tools, processes, and capabilities to support current and future programmes.

Solid and proven understanding and deployment of the Systems Engineering discipline into complex engineering programmes; \'left shifting of effort\' to ensure project successes.

An individual at this grade leads large teams to input into the plans of the systems engineering function. Will be responsible for implementing policy and ensuring delivery within area of responsibility, linking with other parts of the function or business.

The following attributes/experience are required:
  • Leadership \xe2\x80\x93 this is a key leadership role within a thriving business and the job-holder must be able to influence and lead various stakeholders and teams.
  • Organised and authoritative, to provide strong governance across projects and product teams.
  • Development and management of teams of +30 staff members
  • Experience of leading a team in the Systems Engineering Discipline
  • A Chartered Engineer is desirable
  • Previous experience in the defence industry delivering complex platforms/systems is a plus
