What will you do?

  • Reporting to the Global Head of Tax (in Australia), this role is responsible for the management of all aspects of Lendlease\xe2\x80\x99s tax risk within the Europe region. Importantly the position also forms part of the Europe Finance Leadership Team.
  • Lead the regional tax team including career development planning, managing team performance and motivating the team.
  • Provide/manage commercially astute, strategic and technically accurate tax advice to key stakeholders in the region, ensuring an effective approach to tax risk management which is consistent with the Group\xe2\x80\x99s tax policy.
  • Tax structuring for major projects for all business units. This will involve co-ordination and collaboration with external advisers, Group Tax, business and finance teams.
  • Provide tax sign off on any investment papers presented to the Regional and Group Investment Committees. This includes liasing with Group to ensure appropriate Global signoff is obtained.
  • Communication and presentation of all issues to stakeholders, both within region and Group.
  • Assist and collaborate with Group in their coordination of cross regional issues including:
  • Debt / equity mix
  • Transfer pricing
  • Tax shelter management
  • External service provider engagements
  • Tax risk framework
  • Tax planning initiatives
  • Tax Administration developments with the European jurisdictions which the Region operates.
  • Key point of contact with HMRC including agreeing and negotiating outcomes, managing disputes with HMRC and other tax authorities and oversight of review/audit activities in the Europe region.
  • Oversight responsibility for regional tax reporting, governance and compliance.
  • Manage external advisers in multiple countries.
  • Foster and maintain effective and collaborative relationships with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders across functions and/or entire organisation.
  • Advise management of the impact of relevant new or proposed legislation, decisions, regulations and rulings in tax and related areas and participate in lobbying where necessary.
  • Assess tax implications of controlled entity additions, deletions, directorships etc. within the region
You will bring
  • Extensive Corporate, UK & International Tax experience.
  • Property Tax experience preferred.
  • Investment Management tax experience.
  • Team leadership experience.
  • Relevant financial tertiary qualifications, may include professional accreditation such as CA/CPA.
  • Can be relied upon to exercise sound judgement based on a mixture of analysis, wisdom and experience, acting in accordance with Group\xe2\x80\x99s tax risk management policy.
  • Is skilled at making the complex simple and engages others in pursuit of clear strategic goals.
  • Is bottom line and goal focused.
  • Is comfortable delegating and will clearly assign responsibility for tasks and decisions.
  • The ability to create strong internal and external network and professional groups to ensure best practice.
