The Head of Tax is a strategic and technical leader responsible for managing and overseeing the Group's tax affairs, at both a strategic and operational level. This includes compliance, advisory, planning, and risk management across domestic and international jurisdictions. The role demands deep expertise in tax legislation, strong leadership skills, and the ability to translate complex tax issues into actionable business strategies.

Key responsibilities
Tax strategy, planning & advisoryEnsure the Group's tax strategy is aligned with commercial objectives
Optimise tax efficiency in line with the tax strategy while ensuring full compliance with all applicable laws and regulations
As a business that invests heavily in manufacturing and research and development, identify and oversee management of tax incentives relating to these activities
Develop an engagement with a primary global tax advisor, and manage an effective and collaborative relationship with this advisor and other external advisors
Partner with the business on development projects and change initiatives, global supply chains, restructuring and M&A, and provide advice and expert guidance generally
Compliance & reportingEnsure accurate and timely tax filings and payments across the Group
Ensure accurate tax accounting and reporting under IFRS
Develop BEPS Pillar 2 reporting processes
Manage co-operative relationships with tax authorities
Operational efficiencyEnsure that transfer pricing across the group is monitored and managed effectively
Optimise indirect tax processes, working closely with the customs compliance team
Manage and/or implement tax technology solutions to streamline compliance
Contribute to the ongoing implementation of our new global ERP system
Collaborate with procurement, logistics, and finance teams to embed tax efficiency into operations
Advisory & risk managementEnsure adherence to the Group's Tax Governance and Control Framework and Senior Accounting Officer requirements
Maintain and further develop tax risk register(s) including AFTE risk assessments, and proactively manage tax risks
Maintain robust review processes and internal controls
Monitor changes in tax legislation and assess impact on the business
Support our regional Heads of Finance in their roles as Senior Accounting Officer delegates
Manage tax audits and resolve disputes effectively
Communicate to senior leadership on tax matters and risks in a clear and concise manner
Leadership & team developmentIdentify, develop and nurture strong working relationships with key stakeholders across the business
Lead and coach the Group Tax team to achieve our strategic goals, fostering technical excellence and professional growth
Skills & QualificationsACA/CTA qualified or equivalent
Strong grasp of UK and international tax laws
Excellent communication skills
Solution focussed, with high attention to detail
Preferred ExperienceExperience in tax issues associated with manufacturing supply chain
Familiarity with incentives such as capital allowances, R&D and patent box
Proven leadership in a multi-disciplinary team
Strategic mindset with commercial acumen
