Who are we looking for?
We're looking for a Technical SEO Lead to take ownership of Yellowball's technical SEO offering, shaping how we deliver technical audits, reporting frameworks, and advanced search strategies across our client portfolio. This is a hands-on, strategic role, reporting to our Head of SEO, and ideal for someone who thrives on innovation, is passionate about data and AI, and wants to push the boundaries of what SEO can do.
You'll be a senior voice within the team supporting other SEO managers with technical challenges, leading client projects, and driving the development of our AI-powered GEO offering. This is a brilliant opportunity for someone with strong technical expertise and an appetite to lead from the front.
What you'll be doing day-to-day
Lead the technical SEO function at Yellowball setting strategy, frameworks, and standards across campaigns.
Deliver and oversee in-depth technical SEO audits, identifying issues and prioritising fixes based on SEO impact.
Collaborate with SEO, content and development teams to deliver technically sound, high-performing campaigns.
Own our reporting approach standardising Looker Studio dashboards and evolving how we track technical SEO performance.
Drive innovation across the SEO function from custom scripts to automation and AI search integration.
Lead the evolution of our AI/GEO offering, ensuring it supports visibility in emerging AI search experiences.
Support SEO Managers and Account Leads by troubleshooting complex technical issues and delivering solutions.
Join client calls, present audits and insights, and represent the technical SEO voice both internally and externally.
Key responsibilities
Technical SEO delivery
Lead advanced audits and create detailed technical backlogs
Optimise architecture, internal linking, crawlability and URL structure
Improve performance: site speed, Core Web Vitals, mobile responsiveness
Resolve indexing issues including JavaScript rendering, crawl errors and canonicalisation conflicts
Guide schema strategy and implementation (structured data markup)
Liaise with developers to ensure SEO implementation is executed correctly
Manage setup and integrity of GA4, GSC and tag management systems
Conduct log file analysis and manage large-scale crawling strategies for enterprise-level sites
Reporting & analytics
Own our Looker Studio reporting templates and rollout
Ensure reporting consistency across client accounts and teams
Troubleshoot and support bespoke reporting needs
Integrate AI visibility reporting into our standard dashboards
Champion data clarity and drive insights that shape strategy
Team enablement & training
Act as the senior escalation point for technical SEO issues
Deliver monthly technical SEO training for the wider team
Provide ongoing mentorship and documentation
Support new starters with tooling and setup guidance
Innovation & AI/GEO strategy
Lead development of our GEO/AI search service
Optimise content and strategy for visibility in AI-generated search results (SGE, ChatGPT, Perplexity etc.)
Stay on top of emerging trends in AI, LLMs, schema and search behaviour
Build and test scripts or automations to streamline our tech SEO work
Develop forecasting models and case studies to support the AIO offering
Cross-team collaboration & new business
Join pitch meetings and support proposals with technical insights
Support project scoping and resourcing for site migrations or technical one-offs
Work closely with devs to support best practices in site builds and rebuilds
Key competencies
Expert-level knowledge of GA4, GSC, Tag Manager and Looker Studio
Strong ScreamingFrog skills able to analyse and explain crawl results clearly
Demonstrable experience with large-scale SEO and programmatic SEO strategies
Excellent knowledge of international SEO and hreflang best practice
Deep understanding of CMS platforms including WordPress and Shopify
Familiarity with log file analysis, crawl budget, JavaScript SEO, and rendering challenges
Commercial mindset - ability to scope profitable projects, upsell effectively and prioritise based on client goals
Working knowledge of Python, JavaScript or Google Apps Script is a strong plus
Proactive, curious and adaptable - you stay ahead of technical and algorithmic changes
Comfortable presenting to clients and senior stakeholders with clarity and authority

Salary: 60,000 depending on experience
