Job Description


De Montfort University (DMU) are looking to appoint a new Head of the Leicester School of Pharmacy. Faculty

You will join the Faculty of Health and Life Sciences (HLS) - a large Faculty that offers education across a number of health and social care courses and is home to four specialist schools: The Leicester School of Allied Health Sciences, the School of Applied Social Sciences, The Leicester School of Nursing and Midwifery, and the Leicester School of Pharmacy.

Teaching reflects the latest developments in the sector and many courses have professional accreditations. A range of work experience and volunteering opportunities enables students to develop the skills sought by graduate employers. Recent Leicester School of Pharmacy graduates have secured roles with leading employers such as AstraZeneca, Boots, GlaxoSmithKline and LGC Forensics.

The Role

In your new role, as Head of the Leicester School of Pharmacy, you will report into the PVC/Dean and will be a part of the Faculty\'s senior leadership team. You will be providing strategic leadership by way of policy and decision-making, building upon existing academic, professional and research strengths in the school.

In your new role, you will lead and manage cross-School initiatives and support the PVC/Dean in ensuring the Faculty is a successful, innovative and inclusive learning and research environment in which staff and students will thrive. You will develop strategic plans and goals, inclusive of plans for teaching and learning, research and commercial activity. You will engage in managerial and administrative functions. You will assume responsibility for oversight of student recruitment and effectively contribute to targets regarding student engagement, access and participation, and graduate outcomes. You will also communicate internal policies and procedures to staff and ensure compliance with governance, legislative and professional bodies\' requirements.

What You Will Need to Succeed

As Head of the Leicester School of Pharmacy, you will hold a relevant PhD or have equivalent experience within the field. You must possess and demonstrate an in-depth understanding of higher education and policies and have experience within a senior management role. You will also have experience with professional and regulatory bodies.

The salary for this role is \xc2\xa379,000 to \xc2\xa383,000*. The salary range for those applicants meeting our professorial criteria is \xc2\xa373,354 to \xc2\xa3124,231* - Appointment within this range will depend upon the professorial standing of the applicant.

*Effective from 1 August 2023.
