HEAD OF THERAPY
JOB PURPOSE:
To lead and oversee the therapeutic provision across the agency, embedding a trauma-informed and therapeutic approach within all aspects of practice. The post holder will supervise and support therapeutic staff, work collaboratively within and as part of the management team and the placements team to promote placement stability, and ensure therapeutic principles underpin all aspects of the agency's culture, direction, and operations.

GENERAL:
Duties will include: o Providing leadership and direction to the therapeutic team, ensuring consistency and quality of therapeutic practice. o Supervising therapeutic practitioners and offering reflective supervision to social work and support staff where appropriate. o Embedding and modelling a therapeutic approach across the organisation, ensuring staff understand and apply trauma-informed principles. o Working collaboratively with the senior management team to inform and shape the strategic direction of the agency, integrating therapeutic values into service development, policy, and decision-making. o Providing clinical insight and evidence-based guidance to management to support service improvement. o Overseeing the design, delivery, and evaluation of therapeutic interventions and consultations. o Monitoring the quality and outcomes of therapeutic services to ensure alignment with the agency's vision and values. o Supporting induction, training, and development of staff to ensure therapeutic thinking informs fostering practice. o Collaborating with HR and management to promote staff wellbeing and resilience through a therapeutic lens. o Providing consultation, training and advice to foster carers, staff, and professionals
in complex cases. o Facilitating reflective practice sessions and training to enhance understanding of trauma, attachment, and therapeutic care. o Overseeing assessments, formulations, and therapeutic plans for children and young people in placement. o Ensuring all therapeutic work and interventions are accurately recorded and meet agency and regulatory standards. o Working closely with the Placements Team to analyse and review placement disruptions or at-risk placements, identifying themes and strategies to support stability. o Supporting early intervention strategies to prevent breakdowns and promote resilience within fostering families. o Contributing to the development of placement support frameworks informed by attachment and trauma theory. o Promoting strong multidisciplinary relationships with social workers, therapists, carers, and external professionals. o Keeping up to date with developments in trauma-informed and therapeutic practice. o Representing the agency in external meetings and networks relating to therapeutic practice.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
Recognised qualification in Psychology, Psychotherapy, Counselling, or related therapeutic discipline. o Accredited membership (or eligibility) with BACP, UKCP, or BPS. o Significant experience of working therapeutically with children, young people, and families in a fostering or similar setting. o Preferable: Qualification in leadership and management (Level 5) and proven experience in staff supervision, leadership, and embedding a therapeutic culture. o Experience working collaboratively with senior management to influence organisational direction and strategy. o Strong communication, consultation, and report-writing skills. o Full UK driving licence and use of a car.

SALARY RANGE:
Depending on experience and qualifications. Please see contract for specifics.
