We are currently seeking an individual to join this team in the role of Head of VAT.


The successful candidate will be working as Head of VAT managing the VAT team, as part of a larger UK based Tax team.


This is a varied role providing oversight for VAT compliance and advisory work, with involvement in strategic planning and restructuring transactions.


This role will report to the Head of UK Tax as part of a supportive and collaborative tax management team.



In this role you will be responsible for: -



Managing the day-to-day deliverables of the team including the interactions with the key stakeholders in functions and lines of business. Working closely with the outsourced compliance Partner to agree key focus areas, identify process improvements and manage filing deadlines. Assisting with the development and maintenance of processes and controls over indirect tax, including those required for Senior Accounting Officer in the UK. Maintaining a positive and trusted relationship with HMRC through regular meetings and real time discussion of issues. Attending industry body meetings to engage on relevant issues. Managing the VAT team and supporting any learning and development to ensure they are motivated and engaged with the appropriate skills and knowledge to manage and monitor VAT risk.

To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements: -



Experienced VAT professional with experience of managing a team. Relevant Financial Services industry expertise via direct employment or industry secondment from practice. Excellent verbal and written communications, with ability to produce clear, concise documentation and to communicate effectively with Finance and Business Line personnel at all levels. CTA, ACA or equivalent relevant professional qualification. Commercial awareness and risk management mindset.


The base location for this role will be

Birmingham or London

and with a hybrid working pattern.
