Position Summary
Magellan Aerospace, Llay Wrexham has an exciting opportunity for Head of Warehouse and Logistics.

  • Full time permanent position
  • 39 hours per week
  • Job location: Llay, Wrexham, LL12 0PB.

The Head of Warehouse and Logistics is responsible for overseeing all warehouse and logistics operations in Wrexham. This role will provide support to Assembly, Pipes and Treatments and the Machine Shop as well as any other business units in Wrexham.
Reporting to the Division Manager for Wrexham, this role carries full accountability for the effective and efficient management of warehouse functions, inventory control, material flow, and distribution activities as well as supporting the implementation of SAP as the ERP and MRP.
The ideal candidate will have a strong knowledge of ERP, MRP, warehouse and logistics process and demonstrate strong leadership and operational expertise, supporting the development of refined processes and procedures to support the business on a multi-year journey towards world-class standards. They will assess current workflows, implement scalable and compliant processes, and foster a high-performance environment focused on safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
This role requires a proactive leader who can coach and develop teams, set clear operational priorities, and deliver measurable results in a fast-paced, regulated setting.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Develop the Warehouse and Logistics procedures, to maximise the use of SAP and ensure compliance to the business MOS standards. Supporting all business units in Wrexham, the Head of Warehouse and Logistics will support the journey of the other operational roles to deliver on time and in full, aligning to corporate strategy/objectives, working with your peers to ensure that they understand and are aligned to the same plan and have the support required for the facility to deliver to its customers on time and in full.
  • Strategically align with internal and external customers, understanding their needs and drivers, asses the current processes and procedures in place, overhauling anything that is not fit for purpose and develop Warehouse processes and procedures that are "fit to win" in the long term.
  • Set measurable ?nancial goals (short & long term) that drive pro?table business growth. Work closely with finance to ensure that you oversee and are supported on delivering against all financial metrics, including cash and asset management, reporting, corporate & regulatory policies. Oversee development of comprehensive annual business plan (including budgets, forecasts, and operational targets).
  • Ensure divisional operating structure is optimally aligned to achieve e?ciencies, also for growth. Evaluate strengths and weaknesses of manufacturing team to ensure long-term health, productivity, with a high-performance culture. Ensure appropriate skills and sta?ng levels are maintained and making suggestions and insights on the long-term structure of the business, to ensure optimal delivery.
  • Improve facility performance by successful implementation and maintenance of Corporate MOS (Magellan Operating System) Work with the Head of CI to create a long term multi year CI strategy, to support the company's growth and change aspirations, ensuring that we remain a class leader in machining capability.
  • Utilize agreed performance metrics that are developed to measure ongoing strategic success and identify areas for improvement or consideration, to ensure that the right metrics are considered when understanding the delivery and growth of the business.
  • Develop in-depth understanding of the business, building an initial report/strategy that highlights the high priority challenges, as well as understanding the key stakeholders and supporting functions and helping them understand their role in delivering for the long-term success of the business.
  • Ensure all internal business systems are operating optimally to direct, monitor and measure company resources.
  • Develop a strong and well-functioning senior management team. Work with the growing safety and quality teams, to ensure a strong safety and quality first culture to align with the Company globally. Lead from the front in a multidisciplinary team that guides, motivates and develops all sta?.

Position Requirements
Academic:
  • Degree or equivalent professional experience essential. Lean qualifications such as yellow belt or green belt - desirable, CMI/ILM Level 4/5 desirable, IOSH Managing Safely desirable. Career history supporting supply chain in Aerospace/ automotive/nuclear highly desirable.
Professional Accreditations:
  • SAP certifications an asset
Experience:
  • P&L responsibility of a company, branch or division of a relevant size and scope. Senior management experience with precision/custom engineering manufacturing. Operations experience using lean manufacturing tools.
  • Experience building and supporting a strong union relationship
  • Experience working as a part of a team and working collaboratively
  • Experience with introducing and implementing core basics as well as experience of what world class manufacturing facilities should look like and deliver
  • Strong understanding of the end-to-end supply chain, knowledge of SAP desirable
  • Demonstrated mentoring/ people development experience
  • Aerospace, Nuclear or Automotive industry experience an asset.
  • Experience with leading Multi Site operations an asset
