Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Tree Surgeon to join our team based in Glasgow. As a Tree Surgeon, you will be responsible for the maintenance, care, and removal of trees within various locations throughout the city. This physically demanding role requires strong arboricultural knowledge, exceptional tree-climbing skills, and a commitment to safety.

Responsibilities:

Conduct tree inspections, identify potential hazards, and assess the health and condition of trees. Perform tree pruning, crown thinning, crown lifting, and other necessary tree maintenance procedures. Safely operate chainsaws, chippers, stump grinders, and other specialized equipment. Carry out tree felling and removal tasks, ensuring safe and controlled dismantling of trees. Use appropriate rigging techniques to lower tree limbs and sections safely. Ensure adherence to health and safety guidelines, both for personal safety and the protection of the public and property. Assist with the disposal and recycling of tree debris and waste materials. Provide advice and recommendations to clients regarding tree care, preservation, and planting. Maintain equipment and tools, ensuring they are in safe working order. Work collaboratively with team members to achieve project goals and meet deadlines.
Requirements:

Valid CSCS card (Construction Skills Certification Scheme) to demonstrate competence and eligibility for working on construction sites. Full driving license with the ability to drive company vehicles to different work locations. Proven experience as a Tree Surgeon, demonstrating competence in tree climbing, pruning, and felling techniques. Sound knowledge of arboricultural practices, including species identification, tree physiology, and tree risk assessment. Proficiency in operating chainsaws, chippers, and other arboricultural equipment. Strong understanding of health and safety regulations and a commitment to maintaining a safe working environment. Physical fitness and ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions. Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to make informed decisions quickly. Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact professionally with clients and team members. Flexibility to adapt to changing work environments and tasks.
