As our Health and Safety Advisor, the job may be suitable for hybrid working, which is where an employee works part of the week in the office and part of the week from home. This is a voluntary, non-contractual arrangement and the location advertised will be your contractual place of work.
Our opportunity is full time, 37 hours per week, but we would also consider applicants wishing to work a minimum of 30 hours per week and we will also try our best to consider those intending to work a job share. Your world of expertise
Joining our newly developed health and safety (H&S) team, you will have an impact on our H&S management system and culture across the Met Office.
You will support the long-term H&S strategic improvement plans alongside the development of our H&S procedures and guidance documents. You'll support and build our H&S culture across the Met Office and all 2,000 plus employees and contractors, driving the improvement of our organisational health and safety risk management.
Your key duties include
:
Supporting and enabling all aspects of Met Office business by providing legally based industry standard advice, enabling work in compliance with health and safety laws, regulations and best practice.
Developing and maintaining strong working relationships with colleagues and stakeholders and providing regular performance reports to enable oversight and understanding of safety performance.
Fostering relationships with dedicated groups to promote health and safety collaboration and transparency, and to support the Met Office in maturing its safety culture.
Developing and endorsing health and safety procedures and guidance tools to promote consistency and compliance with updated legislation and best practice.

As our Health and Safety Advisor, your total reward package will be up to 47,606 annually, which includes:
33,794 base pay.
An outstanding Civil Service pension, with an average employer contribution of 28.97%.
Annual Leave starting at 27.5 days (plus Bank Holidays) rising to 32.5 days (plus Bank Holidays) after 5 years and option to buy or sell up to 5 days per year of annual leave.
