About the business unit
Mott MacDonald's Advisory and Programme Delivery (APD) unit delivers both project, programme & commercial management (PPCM) services and advisory solutions across the built environment, defence, energy, water, environmental, transportation, health and care sectors.
We deliver tailored solutions that directly address our clients' key challenges, combining our world-leading project expertise with unrivalled programme delivery capabilities and advisory services.
APD delivers services to projects ranging in scale and complexity up to 20bn, through the technical disciplines of programme management, project management, project controls, scheduling, cost management, estimating, infrastructure finance, management consulting, digital consulting and education, health and care management.
Overview of the role
You will be a proactive professional supporting the Health, Safety and Wellbeing Manager in helping Mott MacDonald achieve its health, safety and wellbeing objectives. You will assist in monitoring, advising, and driving continuous improvement across the Advisory and Programme Delivery (APD) unit.
Key responsibilities and duties include:
To contribute to a culture of continuous improvement and enhance the Unit's health, safety, and wellbeing performance
Support the review of health and safety performance, including analysis of trends and issues arising from audits, and share lessons learned as appropriate
Contribute to the review positive interventions, identify trends and concerns, and create safety shares
Maintain and enhance safety communication channels, including the creation and upkeep of a structured communications audit log
Design, update, and manage content for internal safety communications and website
Assist in incident investigations and safety audits, contributing to continuous improvement efforts
Actively contribute to the long-term strategy and objectives of the APD Health and Safety Manager
Serve as a key link between safety and wellbeing, working closely with the Wellbeing Lead to:
Identify and clarify wellbeing themes and priorities
Share insights from positive safety and wellbeing interventions
Support the planning and delivery of wellbeing initiatives
Candidate specification
Essential:
Knowledge of health and safety legislation or management systems
A proactive and enthusiastic approach to health, safety, and wellbeing
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to tailor messages to different audiences
Ability to analyse data and identify trends to support continuous improvement
Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
Ability to work collaboratively with a range of stakeholders
Interest in and commitment to promoting a positive health, safety, and wellbeing culture
Competent in using Microsoft Office applications (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Desirable:
Degree-level qualification (subject area not restricted to Health & Safety)
Previous experience (e.g., through a placement or internship) in a health and safety or wellbeing-related role
Familiarity with incident investigation processes or safety audits
Experience / interest in creating or managing internal communications or websites
Awareness of wellbeing initiatives and how they link to workplace safety
Interest in gaining training qualifications to support the delivery of health and safety training
