We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Safety Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for promoting a safe working environment by implementing safety policies and procedures, conducting risk assessments, and ensuring compliance with health, safety and environmental regulations. This role is crucial in fostering a culture of safety within the organisation and requires strong analytical skills to identify potential hazards and recommend corrective actions.
Duties
Conduct regular safety inspections and audits to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
Perform root cause analysis on incidents and near misses to identify underlying issues and develop preventive measures.
Prepare detailed reports on safety performance, incidents, and compliance status for management review.
Develop and deliver training programmes on safety practices, emergency procedures, and first aid techniques.
Collaborate with various departments to promote safety initiatives and ensure adherence to established protocols.
Investigate accidents and incidents, documenting findings and recommending improvements to prevent recurrence.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant legislation, standards, and best practices in occupational health and safety.
Requirements
Proven experience in a safety-related role, preferably within a construction environment.
Strong understanding of health, safety and environmental regulations and best practices.
Proficiency in report writing with excellent communication skills for conveying complex information clearly.
CSCS card is highly desirable.
Ability to conduct thorough root cause analysis to identify hazards effectively.
Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail.
A proactive approach to problem-solving with a focus on continuous improvement in safety practices.
