We have an exciting opportunity for a Health and Safety Advisor to join us based from our site in Milton Keynes and supporting both this site and our site in Witton, Birmingham.
As a HSE Advisor, you will support with delivering new HSE processes, building relationships with staff at all levels, conducting internal audits, conducting risk assessments, providing safety training, and promoting a culture of safety among employees and contractors.
Key Responsibilities
Ensure that all Health, Safety and Environmental policies, procedures, rules and regulations are adhered to and communicated
Ensure full and accurate health and safety and training records are maintained
Establish and maintain a full programme of documented health & safety inspections, audits and checks
Conduct regular risk assessments of the workplace activities, identifying potential hazards, and implementing controls to mitigate risks
Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of risk control measures and adjust as necessary.
Investigate accidents, near misses, and other safety incidents to determine root causes, and implement corrective actions.
Prepare and maintain accurate records of all safety-related incidents and produce reports for management as required.
Implement proactive and reactive safety measures as required
Provide practical competent advice to the workforce, supervisors and managers on HSW matters
Complete internal and subcontractor audits, and set actions to address the root cause of any findings in relation to audits and investigations
Update and manage the HSE KPI's in line with the company objectives
Promote a positive safety culture within Thyssenkrupp, encouraging active participation and ownership of safety responsibilities at all levels
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
A recognised qualification in health and safety (preferred - i.e. TechIosh, CMIOSH).
Professional certifications such as NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent
Proven experience in a health and safety role, preferably within the manufacturing industry
In-depth knowledge of UK health & safety legislation, regulations, and standards
Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess risks and develop effective control measures
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels
Proficient in conducting safety training sessions and delivering presentations
An approachable, flexible and pro-active individual who all employees feel they can approach for assistance in any safety matter
Confidence in speaking with people and delivering training to groups
Ability to work independently on a project
Strong attention to detail
Willingness to undertake further training and study as required
A full UK driving licence and own transport
Ability to maintain confidentiality on all matters
