The Role

The organisation is seeking a motivated and methodical Health and Safety Advisor to join its team, supporting health and safety compliance and fostering a culture of continuous improvement across its two Oxfordshire sites.


Working closely with the H&S Manager and wider operational teams, the successful candidate will engage in a wide variety of activities ranging from site inspections and risk assessments to audits, training and reporting. There is a strong emphasis on staff engagement, mentoring, and collaborative working across office, lab and workshop environments.


This is a site-based role requiring travel between two nearby locations, so access to a vehicle and a full UK driving licence are essential.

Key Responsibilities

Maintain and promote high standards of health and safety in a dynamic technical environment Foster a positive safety culture through proactive engagement and support across all departments Conduct risk assessments and review policies, procedures, signage and safety documentation Collaborate with engineering and technical teams to implement effective safety controls Participate in internal and external audits, inspections and compliance checks Lead or support incident and near-miss investigations and follow-up actions Develop and contribute to health and safety reports for leadership and external auditors Support and mentor junior H&S personnel and other staff involved in safety activities Identify opportunities for improvement in health and safety systems and practices

Essential Criteria

NEBOSH General Confident communicator with proven influencing skills at all organisational levels Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities Competent IT user, with proficiency in Microsoft Office tools Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel locally

Desirable Criteria

Working knowledge of regulations including COSHH, DSEAR, ATEX and REACH Experience in assessing risks for industrial machinery and hazardous substances Familiarity with compliance areas such as LEV, pressure systems and water safety * Line management or team leadership experience in a safety-related role
