Our apprenticeships


A BAM apprenticeship is a full time earn and learn position; where you will be involved in delivering multi million projects. Leaving a lasting legacy and positive change in our communities.


On completion of a Level 3 Safety, health and environment technician apprenticeship you will be able to join the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) at TechIOSH level.


You'll then be given the opportunity to progress onto further qualifications to support your career development.


A Health and Safety Apprentice in BAM plays a foundational role in helping our organisation deliver projects safely, while developing the competence and confidence to become a future leader in sector. You will be part of a team of a Health and Safety professionals responsible for promoting a positive safety culture and ensuring that everyone on site goes home safely at the end of each day.


You will be assigned a mentor from day one who will support you throughout your learning; giving you the opportunity to learn from an experienced professional.

What will you be doing?


Learn to advise and guide agents and other relevant personnel in setting up, implementing and maintaining safety systems. Understand project execution plans and help to ensure they meet company standards. Learn to carry out periodic site safety inspections and report back findings to site management Ensure that safety issues are discussed at area and department system review meetings. Keep and maintain clear records to comply with company internal audit standards. Assist managers with safety submissions, risk assessments and vendor evaluations when requested. Communicate and promote the health and safety management ethos and concepts. Support in the preparation of the monthly report and submit to the head of health and safety in agreed format. Carry out other relevant duties as required from time to time. Help identify ideas for improvement and issues, submitting to senior safety advisor/team leader for consideration. Set a personal example of safe behaviour.

Essential


GCSE grade 4 (C) or above in Maths GCSE grade 4 (C) or above in English Language 3 additional GCSE's (or equivalent) grade 4 (C) of above

Desirable


1 x A level (or equivalent) in STEM subject

Additional Requirements


Due to the project nature of our business, apprentices must be willing to travel and stay away from home necessary As some of our projects are in remote areas; we also require all applicants to hold or be working towards gaining a full UK driving licence before September 2025
