Core Duties and responsibilities
Maintain up-to-date compliance records for each scheme, covering fire risk assessments, gas safety, electrical checks, water hygiene, and asbestos registers.
Carry out annual on-site health and safety inspections at all schemes and produce reports with actionable outcomes.
Lead on contractor engagement for all compliance-related services; monitor performance and escalate concerns to the Head of Operations as required.
Work with Scheme Managers to coordinate remedial actions from audits, compliance failures, or overdue certificates.
Develop and update the compliance tracker, ensuring real-time visibility of statutory deadlines and certifications.
Contribute to the preparation of board-level compliance reports and audits, supplying assurance data.
Ensure policies and procedures relating to H&S compliance are reviewed and implemented consistently across schemes.
Participate in internal and external audits, representing the organisation professionally and confidently.
Support investigation and learning from H&S incidents, near misses or inspection notices.
Essential Experience
Demonstrable experience in housing compliance or health and safety auditing (preferably in a sheltered or supported housing context)
Proven ability to engage and manage contractors effectively
Experience producing reports and action plans
Knowledge & Skills
Excellent understanding of statutory compliance requirements (gas safety, fire safety, legionella, asbestos, lifts, electrical testing and damp & mould)
Health and safety general knowledge including fire and emergency checks
Strong communication, interpersonal and conflict-resolution skills
Strong organisation, tracking and reporting skills
Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
Proficient in using of standard housing management systems
Ability to work independently with good initiative and organisation

Ability to manage and effectively prioritise a demanding workload
Ability to travel between the Charity's properties and offices, sometimes at short notice
Desirable Criteria
NEBOSH or equivalent health and safety qualification
Experience within a registered provider or housing association
Working knowledge of SDM (Housing management system)
Proficient in health & safety software tools
