We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Health & Safety Manager to oversee and enhance our health and safety protocols within the organisation. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in ensuring a safe working environment for all employees by developing, implementing, and monitoring health and safety policies and ensuring compliance. This position requires a proactive approach to risk management and compliance with relevant legislation.
Key Skills required: -
Minimum of 10 years of experience and a proven track record in Health & Safety, Environmental and Compliance management
Commercial awareness
Excellent IT skills and strong administration skills, specifically data and reporting
The ability to communicate at all levels and with a pro-active approach
Customer awareness
Knowledge of working with new green technologies
Hold recognized H&S and Environmental qualifications and as a minimum a NEBOSH certification
Key Tasks:
The main responsibilities are detailed but not limited to those listed below:
To ensure the company's full compliance with all Health & Safety and Environmental regulations and reporting obligations and effectively implement policies and initiatives where required
To deliver where required and maintain a safe working environment
Continual development and implementation where required of an effective and ongoing audit and risk assessment capability with the full participation of the site management teams
To manage the Health & Safety audits which the Project Managers will need to complete; this will include the monitoring of the completed audits and action taken to resolve any concerns including recording and management of all paperwork
Promote the effective use of PPE and warnings and hazardous material control
Take a leadership and co-ordination role in embedded carbon recording including Scope 1,2 & 3 emissions.
Carry out effective investigation and reporting of all incidents, near misses and lessons learnt and provide guidance and direction to all Managers engaged in any accident and incident formal process
Take a leadership and co-ordination role in environmental and energy management including usage, emissions, waste management and negotiations with energy providers
To create, monitor and maintain Tool Box Talks and Technical Bulletins to be briefed out to Managers and engineers
Develop, monitor and maintain a new employee Health & Safety and Environmental induction process and record same
To keep accurate and detailed records of compliance
Prevention and precautions against, or adequate control of, exposure to hazardous substances, and danger from flammable, explosive, electrical, noise, radiation and manual handling risks
To build relationships with internal and external stakeholders and accreditors
To coach, mentor and develop the managers and engineers in Health and Safety and Environmental compliance
To comply with the company's Health & Safety, and ISO processes and procedures
To promote the company's image in a professional manner
Any further additional Health & Safety and Environmental duties and responsibilities as instructed by the Directors of the Company that are identified as the business grows
