We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Healthcare Assistant to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in providing high-quality patient care in various healthcare settings, including outpatient clinics, urgent care facilities, and hospitals. This position requires a strong foundation in medical terminology, patient service, and basic life support, along with the ability to work collaboratively with healthcare professionals to support patient needs.
Responsibilities
Provide direct patient care, including assistance with daily activities and personal hygiene.
Monitor and record vital signs, ensuring accurate documentation in EHR systems.
Assist with patient intake processes, including gathering medical history and performing initial assessments.
Administer medications as prescribed and ensure proper medication management.
Support healthcare providers during examinations and procedures in various settings such as outpatient clinics, emergency medicine, and surgical units.
Maintain a clean and safe environment for patients by adhering to infection control protocols.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver comprehensive patient care across departments such as dermatology, geriatrics, internal medicine, and more.
Utilize knowledge of anatomy and physiology to assist in the evaluation of patients' conditions.
Engage with patients to provide exceptional service and support throughout their treatment journey.
Requirements
Previous experience in a healthcare setting is preferred; hospital experience is a plus.
Familiarity with medical administrative support tasks and EHR systems is essential.
Knowledge of medical terminology, ICD coding, and vital sign assessment is required.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is necessary; additional certifications in areas like PICU or OR experience are advantageous.
Strong understanding of patient care protocols in both inpatient and outpatient environments.
Excellent communication skills with a focus on patient service and empathy towards diverse populations.
Ability to work effectively under pressure in fast-paced environments such as Level I or Level II trauma centers.
