Job Description

The following are the core responsibilities of the Healthcare Assistant in delivering health services at Southwell Medical Centre: Consult with patients and their families to undertake health assessments for patient reviews. Deliver and assist clinical staff in the provision of treatment, preventative care, health promotion, long-term condition management and patient education. Provide clinical support to registered nurses and other healthcare professionals within the organisation. Undertake NHS Health Checks.

Undertake minor dressings and suture removal. Undertake phlebotomy. Undertake annual chronic disease checks and signpost to relevant clinician for care-planning as necessary. Process samples as required and ensure they are appropriately recorded.

Support with minor surgery, joint injections and coil/implant clinics as required. Manage registers as delegated and recall patients on these registers to attend for specific appointments as required. Work within national and local protocols where these exist. Undertake ECGs and conduct ambulatory ECG/BP monitor fitting.
