Job Description


: As an HCA in our surgical department, you will play a critical role in ensuring the well-being and comfort of our patients before, during, and after surgical procedures. Your duties will vary depending on the planned procedures; you should therefore be willing and able to provide chaperoning and advocacy duties to patients who are having consultations or treatments; and support the clinical team before, during and post treatment delivery. You should therefore have some experience in a medical or surgical setting and be aware of the regulatory requirements. Key Responsibilities: \xc2\xb7 Assist in preparing patients for surgery, including pre-operative assessment, monitoring vital signs and ensuring proper identification. \xc2\xb7 Provide emotional support to patients and their families, addressing any concerns and alleviating anxiety. \xc2\xb7 Assist the surgical team with preparation of the clinical room. \xc2\xb7 Maintain a clean and sterile environment in the surgical suite. \xc2\xb7 support and facilitate surgical procedures through patient preparation and positioning; instruments and supplies to surgeons and nurses during procedures; and cleaning the suite following the procedure. \xc2\xb7 Monitor patients\xe2\x80\x99 post-surgery, documenting vital signs and any changes in condition. \xc2\xb7 Assist with patient transfer and chaperoning in recovery areas. \xc2\xb7 Ensure all infection control protocols are strictly adhered to. \xc2\xb7 Collaborate closely with nurses and other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive care. Qualifications: \xc2\xb7 Previous experience as an HCA in a surgical environment is highly desirable. \xc2\xb7 Phlebotomy trained would be advantageous. \xc2\xb7 Compassion, empathy, and a caring demeanour are essential qualities. \xc2\xb7 Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. \xc2\xb7 Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and high-pressure surgical setting. \xc2\xb7 Basic knowledge of surgical instruments and procedures. \xc2\xb7 Understanding of health and safety protocols and infection control practices. \xc2\xb7 Aware of the regulatory requirements in a private healthcare setting Job Type: Part-time
