Job Description
We require a part time healthcare assistant at Winch Lane Surgery. The role will involve assisting the Nursing Team in all their clinical and administrative activities.
Main duties of the job
Assist in the administration of the Child Health/Immunisation Clinic.
Undertake other clinical activities according to written protocols, including:
Phlebotomy
Taking blood pressure
Urine testing
ECG's
New patient registration medicals
Dressings
Assisting in minor surgery
Ordering consumables
Foot examination
Influenza and pneumococcal immunisations
B12 injections
The Health Care Assistant works under the indirect supervision of a Practice Nurse mentor and is accountable to the Practice Nurse mentor for their actions in undertaking delegated work. However, this is guided by standard operating procedures and requires the individual to use a degree of initiative. The Health Care Assistant also provides support for other members of the Primary Care Team and contributes towards the coordination of team activities.
Essential criteria
To behave confidently & professionally so as to put patients at their ease, and happy to have specific needs attended to by the Healthcare Assistant.
Desirable criteria
Although not essential, it will be an advantage for a successful candidate to have relevant work experience in a clinical setting.
Qualifications
Essential criteria
GCSE Grade C or above in English and Maths
Desirable criteria
Phlebotomy trained NVQ Level 3 trained
All applicants should already hold full competency training in Phlebotomy.
Job Types: Part-time, Permanent
Pay: 12.21-12.82 per hour
Expected hours: 21 per week
