Here at Caythorpe and Ancaster Medical Practice, we have an exciting opportunity for a Health Care Assistant to join our team. We are looking to expand our current team due to an increase in workload and are looking for a team player with a friendly, positive attitude to join us.
As a Health Care Assistant, the successful candidate will support the Practice Nurse team, as well as working alongside the clinical team to ensure all our patients receive excellent medical care.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate would work as part of an excellent nursing team, who remain adaptable and considerate to changes within general practice and the NHS.
As a Health Care Assistant, you will be responsible for the efficient running of your daily clinics, a proactive and dynamic attitude is essential in this role. On a daily basis, you will complete NHS health checks, phlebotomy as well as carrying out baseline observations such as blood pressure and pulse rate checks.
Previous phlebotomy experience is desirable.
Previous experience working in a GP setting is an advantage however, not essential as full training will be provided.

Job description
The following are the core responsibilities of a Health Care Assistant:
1. Undertake new patient health checks
2. Support the Practice Nurse team with health promotion programmes
3. Carry out baseline observations such as pulse oximetery, blood pressure, temperature, pulse rate, BMI and record all finding accurately
4. Facilitate routine and 24-hour BP monitoring, advising patients accordingly
5. Support the Practice Nurse team with the management of chronic disease clinics
6. Act as a chaperone as required
7. Undertake venepuncture
8. When trained, administer flu vaccinations
9. Carry out ECGs as requested
10. Diabetic foot checks
11. Ensure specimens are recorded and ready for onward transportation
12. Ensure all clinical rooms are adequately stocked and prepared for each session
13. Ensure clinical waste is removed from clinical areas and sharp bins replaced in accordance with Practice policy
14. Ensure all patient records are accurately recorded
