We are looking to employ an experienced Healthcare Assistant to join our friendly clinical team. The post holder is responsible for assisting the clinical team, ensuring the delivery of safe and effective healthcare services to the whole practice population
Duties
Supporting the practice nurse with health promotion programmes
Supporting the practice nurse with the management of Chronic Disease clinics
Carrying out baseline observations such as pulse oximetry, blood pressure, temperature, pulse rate, calculating & recording average readings from DOCMAN & AccuRx, making appointments as needed
Reviewing Anima submissions and making nursing / HCA appointments as needed
Filing T2D bloods / urines
Managing the electronic documentation relating to Baby Immunisations, including the booking and rebooking of appointments.
Reviewing communications in Docman and booking appropriate nursing appointments as needed (e.g. travel)
Facilitating routine and 24-hour BP monitoring, advising patients accordingly
Undertaking Wound Care, Dressings and other clinical tasks as required
Undertaking Suture/Clips removal
Carrying out BMI checks as directed
Undertaking annual Patient Health Checks
Acting as a chaperone as required
Undertaking venepuncture
Administering flu vaccinations
Carrying out COPD 6 testing when requested by a Nurse or GP
Carrying out ECGs as requested
Carrying out Shingles, Pneumococcal and B12 injections
Carrying out NHS Health Checks
Carrying out Smoking Cessation clinics, liaise with and advise patients on stop-smoking medications
Carrying out learning disability health checks
Carrying out Diabetes screening to include foot checks
Acting as Pre-Diabetes Lead, reviewing & filing test results, telephoning newly diagnosed and current patients
Acting as Alivecor Lead, coaching patients how to use the device and managing the loan / return of devices
Ensuring specimens are recorded and ready for onward transportation
Providing support during minor operations as required
Ensuring all clinical rooms are adequately stocked and prepared for each session
Ensuring fridges are cleaned routinely in accordance with extant guidance
Ensuring clinical waste is removed from clinical areas and sharps bins replaced in accordance with the practice IPC policy
Qualifications
Phlebotomy Certificate
Ear Syringing Certificate
Healthcare qualification (level 3 or 4) or working towards gaining equivalent level
Job Type: Part-time
