We are seeking a compassionate and detail-oriented Healthcare Assistant to support patient care across various medical settings. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in clinical procedures, medical terminology, and patient service, with experience in hospital, outpatient, or emergency environments. This role involves assisting healthcare professionals with patient intake, vital signs, medication administration, and documentation within electronic health record (EHR) systems. The Healthcare Assistant will play a vital part in ensuring high-quality patient care and smooth clinical operations.
Duties
Assist with patient intake procedures, including collecting medical histories and documenting symptoms
Measure and record vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration rates
Support medication administration under supervision and ensure proper documentation
Operate and update EHR systems accurately to maintain comprehensive patient records
Assist healthcare providers with procedures such as X-ray preparation, ICD coding, and anatomy assessments
Support patient care activities in inpatient, outpatient, ICU (PICU), or trauma center settings
Prepare examination rooms and assist during medical procedures in clinics or surgical environments
Monitor patient condition and report any changes to the medical team promptly
Maintain a clean and safe environment adhering to hospital protocols and infection control standards
Provide excellent patient service by addressing questions and ensuring comfort throughout their visit
Experience
Prior experience in hospital medicine, urgent care, or emergency medicine settings is highly desirable
Experience working within Level I or Level II trauma centers is advantageous
Familiarity with medical administrative support tasks including ICD coding and documentation in EHR systems
Knowledge of physiology, anatomy, pharmacology, and medical terminology relevant to inpatient and outpatient care
Hands-on experience with medication administration, vital signs collection, X-ray procedures, or surgical assistance (OR experience) is preferred
Clinic experience across geriatrics, medical-surgical units, internal medicine, or PICU is beneficial
Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) is required or preferred
Demonstrated ability to work effectively within hospital environments such as Level I Trauma Centers or Geriatrics units
