Assist residents who need help to get up with all aspects of personal hygiene including oral care
Where practicable allow clients a choice of clothing
To help clients with mobility problems and other disabilities in the use of aids and equipment
Assist clients to access and use toilet facilities and changing of sanitary wear
Attend to the full nursing needs of clients who are ill or dying - bed bathing, changing of bed-linen, fluid and dietary intake.
Keep all charts up to date
Check all clients are comfortable and well throughout the shift
In the evenings assist clients to bed if they wish
All care to be carried out in accordance with care plans and the homes policies and procedures
To help in the promotion of mental and physical well-being and organise activities
To make and change beds leaving rooms tidy and commodes clean
Carry out laundry duties ensuring all clients clothing is folded and placed in individual baskets and bed linen stored neatly on linen trolley
To set tables and assist clients to and from the dining room
To encourage or help residents to eat and drink in a tactful and sensitive manner
To ensure that diabetics receive their correct diet
Clean tables and leave the dining room tidy
Serve morning, afternoon and supper drinks in the lounge and wash up afterwards
To answer emergency bells
Greet visitors, request identification if necessary and ask them to sign the visitors book
Offer refreshments to relatives or visitors to the home
Answer the telephone and record any messages
To report to the nurse in charge any changes in the health or requirements of the residents
Report any incidents to the nurse in charge
To sign bath and bowel book
To know the fire policy of the home, be aware of the positions of fire alarms, equipment and exit points
Always work in a safe manner and report any defects in equipment or furnishing within the home
To attend staff meeting and all mandatory training sessions
To perform other duties as might be reasonably expected

All staff are expected to respect the requirements of the Data Protection Act 1998. All staff must ensure that they are aware of their responsibilities under the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974
