We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Health Care Assistant to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will support patient care across various medical settings, including inpatient, outpatient, emergency medicine, and specialized units such as Geriatrics, PICU, and Medical-Surgical departments. This role requires a strong foundation in medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and experience with Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems. The Health Care Assistant will play a vital role in ensuring high-quality patient service and supporting clinical staff with essential tasks.
Duties
Assist with patient intake procedures, including recording vital signs and documenting patient history
Support patient care activities such as medication administration and basic life support (BLS) procedures
Perform clinical tasks including ICD coding, X-ray assistance, and monitoring patient status in various settings like hospital medicine and urgent care
Maintain accurate documentation within EHR systems and ensure compliance with healthcare regulations
Support hospital staff with medical administrative support tasks such as scheduling and patient communication
Assist in the preparation of patients for procedures in operating rooms or clinics
Help monitor patients' physiological parameters and assist with emergency responses in Level I and Level II trauma centers
Provide compassionate patient service, ensuring comfort and safety during hospital stays or outpatient visits
Support healthcare providers with tasks related to anatomy knowledge, medical terminology, and physiology to facilitate effective patient care
Experience
Prior hospital or clinic experience preferred, especially within emergency medicine, inpatient units, or specialized departments such as Geriatrics or PICU
Experience working with EHR systems and familiarity with ICD coding is highly desirable
Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and medication administration is essential
Previous exposure to Level I or Level II trauma centers or Level III trauma center experience is advantageous
Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) required or willing to obtain upon hire
Experience supporting outpatient services or medical-surgical units will be considered a plus
Demonstrated ability to provide excellent patient service in fast-paced healthcare environments
