Job Overview

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated health care assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will provide essential assistance to individuals in need, ensuring their comfort and well-being in various settings, including assisted living facilities and private homes. This role requires a blend of practical skills and emotional support to enhance the quality of life for those we serve.

Duties

Assist clients with daily living activities, including personal care and hygiene. Provide support in meal preparation, ensuring nutritional needs are met. Engage in behaviour management strategies to promote positive interactions. Offer companionship and emotional support to clients, fostering a caring environment. Administer medication as prescribed and assist with any medical needs under supervision. Provide assistance with heavy lifting when necessary, ensuring safety protocols are followed. Support clients with dementia care, employing appropriate techniques to enhance communication and understanding. Collaborate with healthcare professionals, including nurses, to ensure comprehensive patient care. Maintain accurate records of client progress and report any concerns to the relevant authorities.

Requirements

Previous experience in assisted living or childcare is highly desirable. Knowledge of first aid practices is beneficial for ensuring client safety. Ability to perform heavy lifting as required by specific client needs. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to manage challenging behaviours effectively. A caring attitude with a commitment to enhancing the lives of those in your care. Relevant qualifications or training in patient care or related fields will be an advantage. Flexibility to work various shifts as needed, including evenings and weekends.
