Ward 14 is looking for a dynamic and motivated Health Care Assistant to join our team. If you thrive in a fast paced environment and are keen to learn and develop then this role is for you.We are a 37 bedded unit acute general surgical unit specialising in colorectal and urology.We are a positive team that strives to provide an environment that is enjoyable to work in, supportive and actively encourages people to progress and learn.We welcome people from all backgrounds of healthcare and welcome the different skills you could bring to our unit.This post is a permanent, full time position with the expectation that you would rotate between days, nights and weekends.Main duties of the job

  • Provide personal care for patients including bathing, assisting with toileting, feeding and care in the last days of life
  • Works in accordance to the Trust policies and procedures
  • Provides support/ guidance to new starters and others as appropriate
  • Assists the registered nurses in administering direct patient care
  • Informs registered nurses of changes in patients' condition or observations.
  • Prioritise own workload
  • Acts as escort and chaperone as required
  • Communicates with patients/ carers/ relatives considering patients individual needs.
  • Assist in keeping ward area clean and tidy and complies with infection control policy.
  • Ensure availability, cleanliness and maintenance of essential ward equipment.
  • Undertakes some clerical duties such as answering telephone, greeting new patients, filing.

  • Completion of the Care Certificate theory and practice standards within 12 weeks of commencing employment with the Trust.

  • Experience working in the NHS
